Habitat & Distribution –
The Camel Cricket appears in outdoors in cool moist places. In the caves, and forest areas. It accidentally enters our homes.
In Asian and North American countries, one canspot the Camel Cricket in moist leaves, Rails, Trees, Wells, etc.
Appearance and Habits & Peculiarities –
They are brown. The reason for calling it a peculiar name as ‘ Camel cricket ‘ is that it has a ‘Humpback’ like a camel. It has no wings. It is a nocturnal species that jumps with six legs. They possess antennae which are longer than their Body. They rely upon their sense of touch when they dwell deep inside the caves with no light.
Camel cricket is Scavenger they feed upon fungi and also plant material.
Females lay eggs at the start of the Spring season, which hatches during April.
Camel crickets are great food for Scorpions.
