Facts, Information, Scientific Name of Aurochs
In the year 1600, there were Fierce-looking but down-to-earth Humans, a Cattle type animal existed that became an extinct species due to Hunting and Natural Calamities.

Height – 155cm-180cm
Weight – 1000kg
Habitat – Open Grasslands, Riparian Woodlands, Country forests Margins.
Distribution – North Africa, Europe, Siberia. Indian Aurochs was found in Uttar Pradesh.
Aurochs Appearance-
Bulls (Male Aurochs) were Black with a large elongated heads. Short trunk and long legs.
Cows ( Female Aurochs) were reddish brown
Calves (Young Aurochs) were Reddish brown at birth and would turn black after a year.
Aurochs had Horns of yellowish colour that were strong, thickened, and powerful as they were made up of Keratin Protein. Horns were pointed to Fight.
Food-
Grass, Twigs, Oaknuts. Aurochs males used to do excess feeding in the Autumn season to get ready for their shinier and fatter bodies to Fight with other Bulls for mating.
Indian Aurochs is called Zebu cattle as they had elongated shoulders and spine that formed a Hump.
Breeding-
Aurochs used to go solitary in winter and form a Herd in the Summer season. Bulls used to fight for mating, but both bulls and cows participate in the Fight. This was a severe fight in which some individuals were dead. Paleontological Traces of Fight are seen in Jaktorow Forest.
Mating used to take place in September month. Calves were born in Spring. The calf would join the Herd after a year of care and assistance.
Extinction-
Aurochs was not afraid of Humans, hence they were less aggressive towards Humans.
The last individual of Indian Aurochs was found in Madhya Pradesh, Kuno Wildlife Sanctuary. But they were fed to Asiatic Lion as their potential prey, hence they completed their duty in the Food chain.
The last herd of Aurochs was in Poland. There were 50 individuals. The last individual of Aurochs died in 1627.
