The poet says that there was a time once when people laughed with their hearts out and we’re genuine. It is at that point of time that people shook their hands with their hearts which means that they openly embraced each other without any intentions.
2.) What is the poet crying over? What help does he want from his son?
The poet wishes to learn from his son how to live a life that is honest and not two faced. He’s tired of pretending to be someone else. He wants to learn how to laugh genuinely without feeling that he is deceiving others or is being deceived by others.
