ICSE Class 10 Chemistry Case Study based questions – Analytical Chemistry
On this page we have given ICSE Class 10 Chemistry Chapter 4 Case Study based questions – Analytical Chemistry. From 2024 Board exam, ICSE will focus on Technical Based, Analytical Based and Critical Questions in Chemistry Exam. So we Net Ex, has started giving Case Study based questions which is also known as Paragraph Based Questions.
Que No. 1 –
Oxides of most of the metals are basic in nature. They dissolve in water forming hydroxides (or alkalis). These metal oxides and hydroxides neutralize acids but do not react with bases.
1.) What do you understand by amphoteric oxide?
2.) Give the balanced equations for the reaction with two different amphoteric oxides with a caustic alkali.
3.) What is the product obtained when aluminium oxide reacts with sodium hydroxide.
Que No. 2 –
Certain metals like zinc, aluminium and lead react with hot concentrated caustic alkalis (NaOH, KOH) give the corresponding soluble salt and liberate hydrogen.
1.) Give any one balanced equation for the reaction of metal with alkalis.
2.) What is the product obtained when Aluminium reacts with boiling cantic alkalis solution.
3.) Give any one reaction for obtaining Potassium plumbite as a product.
Que No. 3 –
When the sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) solution is added drop by drop to the solution of metallic salts, the metal hydroxide formed gets precipitated. Color of the precipitate identifies the metal ion Some precipitated metallic hydroxides dissolve in excess of sodium hydroxide solution to give soluble compounds.
1.) What is the color of precipitate which is obtained when sodium hydroxide reacts with copper salt.
2.) Give balanced equations for the reaction of Ferric chloride and sodium hydroxide.
3.) Which metallic salt gives Gelatinous white soluble ppt when react with sodium hydroxide.
Answers
Que No. 1 Answers-
