Subject and predicate are two individual parts of a sentence. Subject refers to the doer of the action mentioned in a sentence. Subject of sentence can be a noun, pronoun or noun phrase but it functions as same. The noun, pronouns and noun phrase which represent the person or object conducting action in sentence, it is called subject. In a sentence we can find more than one subject. In that case, compound subject or two complementary subjects work on the same context with verb. Imperative sentence does not require subject like all other sentences. Subject remains implied in such sentences. Along with noun, pronoun and noun phrases gerund and gerund phrases can also play the role of subject in many sentences.
Predicate is other main part of a sentence where we can find verb, object, the receiver of the action and other parts. We get details about the subject, the action, its time, place etc. from the predicate part. In one sentence, we can say predicate provides information about the subject of a sentence. Predicates can be different types based upon sentences like short predicate, long predicate, compound predicate and word predicate.
