(2.) How can you say that forests are biosphere reserves? Give reasons.
Ans. Forest are biosphere reserve as various plants and animals are living there with out any threat to their lives. Forests help in maintaining the temperature and oxygen level of the atmosphere.
Plants release oxygen during photosynthesis and take carbon di oxide. Forests area huge reserve of plants and trees. They play an important role in balancing the gaseous level in the atmosphere. Forests are biosphere reserves as it is a place having a large ecosystem. Animals, plants co exist with each other. Thats why we can say ‘forests are biosphere reserves’.
(3) What do you understand about the terms (a) extinct (b) endangered (c) endemic. Give examples.
Ans. Extinct: Species of plants and animals that have vanished from earth for ever are called extinct.
Example: Dinosaurours, Bengal tiger.
Endangered: Plants and animals species that are on the verge of becoming extinct are called Endangered. The species might be wiped off from the earth in near future.
Examples – Red fox, Lion, Vulture, Back spider monkey, Wild cat etc.
Endemic species: Many plants and animals are widely distributed throughout the world. But some species of plants and animals are found restricted to some areas only. Plants or animals species found restricted to a particular area of a country are called Endemic species.
Examples: Kangaroo, Kiwi, Peacock etc.
(4.) What is the scientific reason behind bird’s migration?
Ans. The scientific reason behind migration of birds –
as the climate changes, the birds migrates to another place to protect themselves from the summer or the winter. The birds migrate due to harsh conditions. They had try to lay their eggs in normal climate, as the harsh conditions can’t effect their eggs. Some tomes birds migrate to search for their food.
(6) What is the need of conducting biodiversity meet? Collect information about these meetings when and where it was conducted and its agenda also.
Ans. Conservation of biodiversity is an important issue to protect our nature for the future generations. The convension has three main goals including – conservation of biodiversity, the sustainable use of its components, the fair and equitable sharing of benifits from genetic resources.
The convention was opened at the Earth summit in Rio de Janeiro on 5 June 1992.
The first ordinary meeting of the convention took place in November and december 1994 in Nassau.
The second ordinary meeting of the convention took place in November 1995 in Indonesia, and many more meeting took place.
(7) Now-a-days we find animals like leopards and bears intruding into our living places. What may be the reasons for this?
Ans. Now a days, we find animals like Leopards and bears intruding into our living places, the reason behind is the deforestation done by humans. For that animals are not getting sufficient atmosphere. In the forest and they losses their habitat that is forest. For this deforestation the animals lost their food and shelter. So if we want to avoid this we should not destroy their forest.
(10) When tree is considered as an ecosystem, record the flora and fauna connected with it?
Ans. Trees are considered as an ecosystems. this means that they can be a home of both the flora and fauna. In an ecosystem organisms can’t live individually. It must be depend on its surroundings and other organisms.
For examples – Monkeys, birds live on the branches, sometimes we may find honey combs on tree.
(12.) Visit local forest office and collect the data of local flora and fauna.
Ans. List of local flora and fauna –
House sparrow | Shuili |
Indian peacock | Mari gold |
Mayna | Sunflower |
Asian Koel | Lotus |
Cow | Banyan tree |
dog | |
Bufallow | |
Sheep | |
Goat etc. |
(14.) What do you understand by biodiversity? How can you say variations are present in them?
Ans. Biodiversity means the variety and variability seen in plants and animals. Biodiversity is the mixture of all organisms and if any trouble takes place the eco balance will be affected.
As we know different organisms have own characters. So we can say that variations are present in them. Variations art the things which makes diverse. Variations are present in plants, animals ande micro organisms which are different from their, physically, chemically characters.
(15.) Most of our biodiversity is being lost due to human activities. Suggest few ways to protect them.
Ans. The ways to protect bio diversity are –
i) We should not do the deforestation.
ii) We shoud not cut the trees for our purpose.
iii) We should not pollute our environment.
iv) use biodegregradable things at the place of polythene and plastic.
v) Follow the three r’s of environment reduce, reuse, recycle.
vi) Making wildlife awareness aming people.
vii) Establishing bio diversity parks.
(16.) When you see a park, sanctuary or a zoo with many kinds of plants and animals, how would you express your happiness? Write a few lines on them.
Ans. When i see a park, sanctuary or a zoo with many kinds of plants and animals, I really feel very happy. I express happiness by asking the rangers more about them and also by clicking some beautiful photoes. Their free life style movement and their wandering surroundings provides much pleasure to me.
(18.) Rani said conservation of biodiversity starts from our home. Is she correct? How do you support her? What will be your action plan for this?
Ans. Yes, Rani said correct conservation of biodiversity starts from our home.
I support her by saying that we should save biodiversity. We should sow plants, if we will save plants, we can save ourselves. Using cloth bags for carrying things. We should not burn crackers, so that the birds would not be get affected by this loud noise. We should conserve forests and protect our environment.
(19.) When we take steps towards conserving the tiger, what are the other things that have to be conserved?
Ans. When we take steps to conserve tiger we should take steps to conserve herbivores animals because tiger depends on those animals for their food. If it is not conserved then tiger may die from hunger. To build the capacity in rang slates, Monitoring tiger numbers population trends, in these ways we should conserved the tiger.
(20.) Prepare some slogans or a pamphlet to make aware of people about conservation of biodiversity.
Ans. i) Save biodiversity, to save animals.
ii) To save nature, biodiversity is the only way.
iii) Save biodiversity it saves our life.
iv) No nature, no future.
