Robinson Crusoe Discovers a footprint Summary
Robison Crusoe is a story adapted from Daniel Defoe’s Robison Crusoe’. It is the story about a man who got stuck in an island after his sheep has been destroyed by the sea. He was alone in the island for many years & longed for company.
The first & second Para of the story “One day when . . . . . . to be a man” gives us an introduction to the story. One fine day when Robison was going towards his boat he noticed something surprising which frightened him as well shocked him. It was the footprint a man on the shore. He looked around in surprises to see anyone, or hear anyone but found none. He looked here & there but found no other footprint. He questioned himself but then realised it was not his imagination. He stayed there for long time & became even more confused. Then finally he returned to his home frightened & looking behind & again as if somebody was following him.
The third, 4th, 5th, Para of the story “when I came…….. eat me” describes his feelings. He ran inside his cave & could not recall how he went in as he ran faster than any animal could run. He could not sleep that night, frightened thinking about the site. He thought of the mainland who came out in a small boat. He then thought he was lucky enough to not being caught by the imaginary person. Then the next moment he thought if he was seen, the imaginary person would come with his gang to kill him.
The 6th, 7th, 8th, & 9th Para conclude the story & highlight his final thought & the dilemma he was in. he kept praying for many days regarding his safety & finally became comfortable & went out to further investigate. But still as he went further he kept looking back. He went out frequently & became bolder & further decided to go to same spot for the second time. He went there & thought it might his own footprint but then realised he has not been to the shore since a long time. He finally measured the footprint with his foot & realised it was larger than his foot. His fear returned & he rushed back home assuming there was some home.
The story deals with the human nature who long for the company of people but at the same time think about his own safety & priorities.
