1.) Discuss the role of the President and the Prime Minister in a Parliamentary form of government.
Ans: The country’s head of the state according to its constitution is India’s President. The President is endowed with executive, judicial, and legislative authority, but he or she is not free to wield them at whim. A President is entrusted to make crucial decisions during election/ voting process.
One of most powerful member of the Indian government is the Prime Minister. He serves as the government’s pivot. The Prime Minister is the one who actually exercises authority.All policies and plans are made by consultation of the Prime Minister.
2.) Write the responsible factors for the fall of the position of Parliament.
Ans: Absence of members, downfall of the committee system, rivalry amongst of members, are responsible factors for the fall of the position of Parliament. No debates on international and national issues should be issued for a better functioning of the government. These are the responsible factors for the fall of the position of Parliament.
3.) Give necessary suggestions for the improvement of the position of Parliament.
Ans: Denying criminals’ involvement in the political system. Eliminating corruption at elevated amounts by efficient anti-corruption efforts and establishing executive responsibility. The appropriate instruction of parliamentarians in the performance of house business providing the House’s Presiding Officers more authority to penalize disruptive lawmakers. Strengthening the accountability of political parties on their behaviour in the Parliament.
4.) Write the composition of Indian Parliament.
Ans: The Indian Parliament is composed of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
Lok Sabha – Lok Sabha is composed of the directly elected representatives of the people. The maximum strengthof the house envisaged by the constitution is 545. Out of these, 543 members are direct representatives of the people while 2 members are nominated by the President. Provisions for reservation of the schedule castes and schedule tribes have been made (85 Seats for Schedule Castes and 47 Seats for Schedule Tribes) Punjab state sends 13 members to Lok Sabha.
Rajya Sabha – This is a permanent house of the Parliament. The total strength of this house is 250. Out of these, 238 members are from the States and Union Territories, while 12 members are selected by the President from those persons who have secured popularity in the field of Literature, Social Service, Science and Art. The members of the Rajya Sabha are indirectly elected by members of the legislative bodies of the states. Each member has a term of 2 years and new members are elected in their place. Seven members are elected from Punjab by proportional representation
