(1) What is Lithosphere?
Ans: Lithosphere refers to the solid crust of the earth that includes all types of land forms.
(2) Name the main landforms of the earth?
Ans: The main landforms of earth consist of mountains, plateaus and plains.
(3) What is mountain range?
Ans: A mountain range is a chain or collection of mountain which is defined as a mass of land higher than the surrounding area and has step sides with conical tops.
(4) How the atmosphere helps the life system of live?
Ans: The layer of air that surrounds the earth like a cover is called the atmosphere which consists of various gasses like oxygen, nitrogen, carbondioxide etc. Oxygen is the maintain temperature of earth which is suitable for existence of life.
(5) Which land form is called table lands and why?
Ans: Plateaus are called table land because of its shape which is broad and elevated mass of land.
(6) What is the importance of Hydrosphere to man?
Ans: Hydrosphere is the source of water for man and also to all other living organism. Without water life cannot exist and hydrosphere provides us with drinking water and purposes water.
(7) What is meant b a continent?
Ans: Continent are the large separated landmasses that are surrounded by ocean and seas.
(8) How many continents are there on earth name them? Which is the largest continent?
Ans: There are seven continents on the earth. They are – Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Europe, Antartica and Australia. The largest continents of earth is Asia.
(9) Write the name of oceans. Also tell by which colour these ocean are represented on the Globe?
Ans: There are four Ocean on the earth – The Pacific Ocean. The Atlantic Ocean, The Indian Ocean and The Arctic Ocean.
The Oceans are represented by blue colour on the Globe.
(10) What is Biosphere? Give brief explanation regarding this.
Ans: The narrow contact zone of the three realms of earth i.e. land, water and air is called the Biosphere.
The Biosphere consists of all plants and living organism that varies in shape and size. The organism of Biosphere are dependent on each other for food and existence of life depends on the balance of biosphere maintained by its elements like plant, animals etc.
(11) Being an important inmate of the Biosphere what precautionary steps to be taken by man?
Ans: Humans must always try to maintain the balance in the biosphere and limit their consumption of natural resources. They must go for afforestation and decrease the carbon footprint in the Biosphere.
