(c) Paper
(d) None of them
→ (c) Paper
(ii) Which can be converted into magnet
(a) Eraser
(b) Iron Nail
(c) Wooden bar
(d) None of these
→ (b) Iron Nail
(5) Very Short Answer Questions: –
(i) Write name of any two things used in our daily life that contains magnet?
→ (1) Mobile phone, and (2) Memory card
(ii) When a bar magnet placed on iron filings, where the filings will be attracted more?
→ When a bar magnate placed on iron filings, the filings will be attracted at near Pole. Because the magnetic field of pole is stronger than middle part.
(iii) What is an Artificial Magnet?
→ A man made magnet is called artificial magnet.
(iv) What are magnetic and non-magnetic materials? Give examples?
→ Which materials attracted towards magnet are called magnetic materials.
Which materials cannot attract towards magnet are called non-magnetic materials.
(6) Short Answer Questions: –
(i) What is a magnet? Name the poles of magnet?
→A magnet is a (man-made) material which produce magnetic field.
Every magnet has two poles, (1)South pole and (2) North pole
(ii) Give three reasons by which a magnet loses its property?
→(1) By hammering, (2) By heating, (3) By throwing from hight.
(iii) What is a compass? For what purpose it is used?
→Compass is a magnetic device. Magnetic compass is used to find the geographical directions on earth.
(iv) What are magnetic and non-magnetic materials? Give examples?
→Iron, cobalt, metal, nickel etc. are magnetic materials.
Plastic, rubber, wood, paper, leather, stainless steel, gold, and silver etc. are non-magnetic materials.
(7) Long Answer Questions: –
(i) How will you make your own magnet from a given strip of iron? Describe?
→We will able to make our own magnet, for this we need one piece of bar magnet, iron needle, small pin, etc.
Procedure for making magnet is, with the help of bar magnet rubbing the needle with any pole of magnet in circular position in one to two minutes with same pole. Then we will observe that the needle has become a magnet too. We can check it with small pin, pin will be attracted by the needle.
In short, we can saw an iron material converted into magnet with effect from bar magnet.
(ii) Give some uses of magnets in our daily life?
→Magnets are used in our daily life like, door catcher, purse, pin holder, mobile covers, geometry boxes, the lid fits tightly when close it even without a locking arrangement. Such as all the above things contain magnets fitted inside them. Other side in manufacturing units (industries) are also used magnet for machinery of production purpose. In the big shopping center automatic door closer, exalter steeps, also used magnet.
Extra Questions and Answers
Short Answer Questions: –
(1) First time who discover Magnetite and where?
→ A shepherd named ‘magnes’ discovered Magnetite at ‘Magnesia.’
(2) along with iron which particulars are also attract to magnet?
→Along with iron, nickel, and cobalt which are attracted by the magnet.
(3) Which two poles are attracted and which two poles are not attracted of bar magnet.
→North pole of first magnet is attracted with South pole of second magnet and north pole of first magnet is not attracted with north pole of second magnet.
(4) A freely suspended bar magnet always points towards which direction?
→A freely suspended bar magnet always comes to rest in ‘North-South’ direction.
(5) Describe the difference between magnetite and magnet?
→ Magnetite is a natural magnet. And magnet is a part or pieces of magnetite.
A man-made magnet is called artificial magnets.
(6) Describe man-made artificial magnet shapes?
→Magnet manufactured in different shapes, i.e. bar magnet, ring magnets, Horse-shoe magnet, cylindrical or ball-ended magnet etc.
(7) Which instrument can help us to geographical directions on earth?
