8.) Write the story of ‘A Legend of the Northland’ in about ten sentences.
Answer:
The story is about an old lady who got cursed by Saint Peter for her greed and selfish nature. One day Saint Peter after giving religious lectures to the people reached the door of a cottage where a small woman was making cakes. As Saint Peter had not eaten the entire day, was very hungry and feeling weak. He asked for one cake from her stock. But the woman was too selfish and greedy, She started making cake instead of giving from the stock and was making repeatedly as she thought each single one was too big to give. Finally Saint Peter got angry by seeing her behavior and cursed her. He cursed her by converting her into a woodpecker. Her red cap turned into red feather on her head and all her clothes burnt and turned into black like coal. Because of his curse the old lady had to collect her food by digging the wood.
