The poet did not mention about a more beautiful tree such as a maple, or an oak, or a pine instead of a poisonous tree hemlock as he wanted to describe the gloomy mood of the poet and wanted to portray a sad scene.
(iii) What do the ‘crow’ and ‘hemlock’ represent — joy or sorrow? What does the dust of snow that the crow shakes off a hemlock tree stand.
Ans) The ‘crow’ and ‘hemlock’ represent sorrow here.
Here the dust of snow that the crow shakes off a hemlock tree stands for new hope which has changed the mood of the poet and saved the rest of the day of the poet.
