(a) Different types of kites:- In the past the kites were made of kite paper and their wooden and frames. Today the invention of motorized and even fiberglass kites. The box kites – designed more than a hundred years ago, are flown at night. These are illuminated kites stung on one line and launched into the sky. These kite are called tukals. They compete with the brilliance of the stars. Exotic kites have marvelous shapes such as that of eagles and snakes.
(b) International Kite Festival at Ahmedabad:- The international kite at Ahmedabed is held on the day of Makar Sankranti organized by the Gujarat state tourism corporation. It is held either at the Sardar Patel Stadium or the Police Stadium. It attracts international kite – flyers as well as local champions, little Indian paper kites compete with those from japan, USA, UK and other countries. Exotic kites with marvelous shapes such as eagles, and snakes soar in the heart of Ahedabed is opened 24 hours a day for a whole week and people crowd the streets through the night, skilled craftsmen demonstrate age – old kite making skills and how to prepare special thread. At night, illuminated box – kites are sent into the sky.
(c) The kite bazar of Ahmedabad:- The patang or kite bazar, in the heartt of Ahmedabed, which is open 24 hours a day for a whole week. A visit to this bazer in the middle of the night is enough to prove that the entire city of Ahmedabad is obsessed with kites. People crowd the streets through the night. Skilled craftsmen demonstrate age old kite making skills how to prepare special thread covered with a mixture of glue and ground glass.
(4) You have just returned after your first experience of the kite – festival in Gujarat / Ahmedabad. Ans:- A huge variety of colorful kites decorate the sky this year during the International kite festival here. A record number of countries participated in this festival. The famous International kite festivals organized by the Gujrat state tourism corporation / was held at the sardar patel stadium. 14 countries including India participated in the festivals. The kites were very colorful and also in variety of shapes, the shapes of the kites were eagles, snakes etc. At that night most attractive box kites, which called tukals, it add a grant beauty to the dark sky. This kites soared in the sky, free as birds. Pepole keep flying kites from early morning to night. One of the nightlights of this festival is the patang or kite bazer, A visit to this bazer, in the middle of night, it prove that the entries city is obssed with kites.
On that day the sky was blue, red, pink, green and golden color. There was music in the air and everyone feel and enjoyed this festival.
This is a day the none will forget anymore. One of the great kite flying days in Ahmedabad.
