Cell Structure and Micro-organisms |
(1) (a) The cell is the fundamental structural and functional unit of living organisms.
(b) The different organelles in a cells are – nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi bodies, lyso somes, plastids etc.
(c) Micro-organisms are present all around us in the air water food as well as in the bodies of plants and animals.
(d) Micro-organisms are classified as algae, fungi, protozoa, bacteria and viruses.
(2) (a) The organelles called the chloroplast is presents in plant cells only.
(b) Garbage is converted into compost by micro-organisms.
(c) In the cell, photosynthesis is carried out with the help of chloroplasts.
(d) An electron microscope is necessary for study of cell.
(3)
Plant Cell |
Animal Cell |
(i) Plant cell have cell wall |
(i) Animal cell do not have cell wall |
(ii) Plant cells are bigger in size |
(ii) Animal cells smaller than plant cell |
(iii) Plant cell have chloroplast |
(iii) Animal plants don’t have chloroplast |
Prokaryotes |
Eukaryotes |
(i) Cells are small |
(i) Cells are larges than size |
(ii) Cell wall composed of peptidoglycan. |
(ii) Cell wall composed by cellulose |
(5) Each Micro-organisms needs a specific environment for growth. Some micro-organisms are use full and some are harm full for us.
Micro-organisms like lactobacillus bacterium, yeast are used n food industry. Microbes decompose the garbage’s. Some micro-organisms are used in vaccine. Micro-organisms like typhoid hepatitis pathogens’ are released diseases microbes causes diseases malaria dengue into the human body.
(6) (a) In rainy seasons water gets logged at places and turn into as a breeding ground for mosquitoes and others.
This spread diseases on a large scale during periods of heavy rainfall and floods.
(b) Bacteria and fungi can infect our foods that is stored for a long time. so there a possibility of food poisoning.
(c) This is because sunlight will enter through the soil, which will kill the harmful microorganisms. Not only this, it will also helpful to reach water, air directly to the roots of plants.
(d) Fungus grows quickly in moist or humid conditions because these are the favorite conditions for them for their growth.
(e) Refrigerator is used in almost every home because it prevents spoiling of foods.
(f) Bread rises during baking because of the yeast cells liberates co2 in the process. Because of large amount of co2 is released that makes the bread rise.
(g) Fodder is soaked in water before offering it to cattles because soaking increases the nutrition value of the fodder.
7.) The simple microscope is used to get a magnified view of the object.
The compound microscope is used for observing cells at high magnification, which is not possible simple microscope.
Cells are extremely minute in size. We cannot see cells with the naked eye. Micrometre and nanometre are the units used for measuring their sizes. Simple Microscopes are utilised at a very basic level. It is mostly present in lots of schools to see the magnified view object in lab class. Whereas, Compound microscopes are utilised at a very professional level. It is used mostly in laboratory i.e. medicinal and others.
