Dear Punit,
Hope my letter finds you in the best of your health and spirit. I’m fine and safe here. Many thanks for your affectionate and sweet note. Today, I am writing this letter to share with you a grim experience that I had in the afternoon. I feel a cold shiver down my spine as I think of it. It is perhaps the most blood-curdling incident I have ever seen.
In the afternoon as I was coming from school, my eyes fell on a few children flying kites atop their houses. Suddenly a kite by chance fell and came down on the main road nearby. For a second I felt tempted to run and catch hold of it. I could have done it, were it not a horrible incident which took place under my very nose.
A street urchin, hardly ten years old, darted all at once out of a lane. Without looking to the left or right, he came running up at break-neck speed and grabbed the kite. Before anything could be done, a cab rushed up and ran over him. The driver had tried his best to apply the brake, but all in vain. The cab slide off the main road and knocked down the boy. A wild shrike and the boy lay in a pool of blood. Shuddering, I closed my eyes and when I opened them I saw a lump of mangled flesh with jets of blood gushing out of it. Soon a big crowd gathered. Someone called the ambulance and the boy was taken to the nearest hospital. The sight was so horrible that I felt like fainting away.
After returning home I could neither sleep nor eat. I could not eat lunch and dinner. Whenever, I try to close my eyes, the whole incident flash before my eyes. The sight of this ghastly accident still haunts me.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Till then take care. Bye!
Yours ever
Manish
Good but big.
