(1) Who are Nagodas?
Ans: – Nagodas were the sericulturists at Bengal. Weavers from various countries come to buy the silk they produced. When Bengal come under the rule of English east India company, the officials began to exploits the Nagodas. They were made bonded laborers of the company, denying opportunity to seek any other means of livelihood. They were forced to live like solves under the company. The workers who were not willing to obey were tortured and their properties were seized.
(2) To exploit the maximum resources of Bengal, what were the strategies company adopted?
Ans: – *Levied heavy taxes on farmers.
*No tax concessions were sanctioned even when drought and flood destroyed the agriculture.
