Gulliver’s Travels Summary
This is a story of Gulliver, a sailor as he once got trapped in the land of giants.
The 1st and 2nd Para “On 16th June . . . . . other” mentions that on 16th June 1730 Gulliver & his group discovered a land. The captain sent many of them in search of water. But surprisingly they found nothing. The place was rocky & barren. Gulliver looked back to see his fellow mates & surprisedly found them rowing the ship as fast as they could. He ran & before could catch them he noticed a huge creature walking after them. He was huge like a giant. Terrified Gulliver climbed up a hill & hide in a corn field which was almost 40 feet tall.
The 3rd & 4th Para “It was impossible . . . . floor” further describes his adventure in the strange land. He kept hiding in the corn field frightened & heard a loud voice which was like thunder clashing, calling his fellow mate to reap the corn. As the reapers unknowingly approached him, he shouted as loud as he could. The creature stopped reaping & held him in his fingers & took him close to his eyes. The giant finger then called for his friends & placed him down. They all sat & stared at Gulliver. Gulliver tried to speak in many languages but was in vain. One of the farmer finally took Gulliver to his house & placed him in a table 30 feet high from the floor.
The fifth Para is the last Para concluding the story. Dinner was served to the huge farmer in a plate which was 10 feet in diameter. The farmer’s wife served some crumbled bread to Gulliver. He also noticed a cat that seemed 10 times bigger than an ox. Then entered the one year old son of the farmer who tried to put Gulliver into his mouth. Fortunately Gulliver shouted & the baby dropped him & he fell into the mother’s apron or he would have surely broke his neck. Later the women put Gulliver in her bed & covered him with a handkerchief. Gulliver slept dreaming about his wife children.
The story concludes by clearing our doubts that those huge giant like people could harm Gulliver, rather they were very good people & took care of Gulliver.
