- FTP is an application protocol which means it doesn’t communicate with each other directly but it works internally over TCP/IP protocol.
- TCP is basically a protocol for communication so when we transfer a file from one system to another it first goes through FTP protocol then it goes through TCP/IP protocol and then travelling over the network it reaches to the destination then again goes through TCP/IP protocol and then FTP protocol and then to the user at the receiver end.
How does FTP work?
There is a client machine and a server machine so when the client wants to send a file it uses FTP command at and have information about the system’s IP address or domain name. It makes a connection through FTP command which creates a channel and then the server provides a response and it created another channel when it wants to transfer data or file. When this process ends the channel destroys itself and then it gets created again whenever the data is to be transferred.
