Full form of APSC: The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) is the only statutory body for the recruitment of public service officers in the state of Assam in India. The commission was founded in March 1951, and currently has four members. Candidates submit their applications to the commission, and the governor and minister of Assam chooses the candidates for the government jobs. After a candidate is appointed as a member, he continues to represent the commission until he vacates his seat. The four members take turns appointing a Fifth Member to represent the commission in negotiations with the government.
Functions of APSC
- The commission is responsible for conducting examinations for recruitment into grades I and II in all departments of the state government of Assam and has powers to interpret the Indian Council of Social Service (CSSA) Act of 1997. The mission of the APSC is to provide quality service to the people of Assam while safeguarding national interests and security.

- The exams conducted by APSC are APSC CCE for the following offices: Assam Police Service, Sub Registrar, Tax Inspector, Labour Inspector, District Transport Officer, and Superintendent of Taxes.
