Bal Swachhata Abhiyan Essay: Bal Swachhata Abhiyan is a cleanliness campaign having the parent mission as the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan which is launched by the government of India. The former campaign focuses on the hygiene and sanitation of the nation and making the people aware of it. It was launched on 14th November 2014 to create awareness among the people about cleanliness and explain to them the benefits of cleanliness by the Union Minister of Women and Child Development, Smt. Maneka Gandhi. It was a five-day mission which began on the 14th of November and ended on the 19th of November.

The main objective of the Bal Swachhata Abhijan was to seek cleanliness headed by the children of the nation. It focused on providing healthy food to the children, provision of filtered drinking water, sanitation facilities and personal hygiene of the children. The Anganwadis and the Government schools in India participated in the mission. The 6-day program comprised the following activities:
- On 14th November, cleaning of surrounding areas and playgrounds had taken place.
- On 15th November clean food was offered to the children
- On 17th November a theme of clean self was portrayed before the children
- On 18th November a theme of clean drinking water was introduced
- On 19th November awareness was spread regarding sanitation and personal hygiene of the students. Also, cleaning the toilet was a part of the activity.
There are various advantages of the Bal Swachhata Abhijan wherein the children are taught about cleanliness and hygiene. Through children, the message of cleanliness will spread to the adults thereby enabling them to keep their surroundings clean as well. As a result, the mission can act as an impediment to the spread of diseases and viruses. When children are raised with good hygiene habits, they can pass on the same values to other people as well. Awareness can be created among the students by adopting informal ways such as playing games, role-playing, storytelling and conversation with them. Other programs such as debates and seminars were organised to inculcate the values of cleanliness among students. It is a widely accepted fact that children learn easily what they see around them. Keeping that in view, the Bal Swachhta Abhijna was launched. It is because the children can easily acquire the good values of cleanliness and act a s a spearheads in making the mission successful. In the process of doing so, the houses, schools and surroundings can be kept clean
