Q5 Long Answer Type Questions:
i.) Ecosystem is a pattern which is formed by the interrelation and interaction of all living organisms with each other and with the physical and chemical items of the environment in which they live, and is linked by transfer of energy and material which are essential for their existence. The interaction takes place between the living things like plants, animals and organisms and non-living organisms like weather, earth, sun, soil etc.Varied types of ecosystems exist. Example: Pond ecosystem, desert ecosystem.
ii.) From earliest times humans had interacted with his natural environment as per the requirement and modified it whenever necessity was raised. Early men lived in the nature and led a simple life but as time passed humans learned new methods to use and change the environment. They learnt to grow crops, domesticated animals and started settled life. With the industrial revolution there was more development and life became more easier and people started to exploit the nature without being thoughtful about the consequences. The exploitation of the natural environment had caused in global warming emergence of new diseases, devastating natural calamities. Humans need to learn to live in the natural environment without harming the balance.
