Subject- Need for people’s movement for a clean Yamuna
Sir,
Kindly permit me to use the columns of your esteemed daily I want to draw the attention of the Indian citizen toward the need of public movement to keep the river Yamuna clean.
It is a known fact that Yamuna is the second largest tributary of River Ganga and the longest tributary of India. It is our valuable natural asset. Once, the water of Yamuna was pristine blue. But lately, this is asset is facing a threat from mankind. Now it is regarded as the “Delhi’s dying holy river”. The residents are polluting the river with garbage, sewage and filth. The river water is full of plastic, chemicals and other waste materials. Along with it, as the industrialization in NCR increased the pollution in river Yamuna has also increased. It is unfit for consumption. The river has lost its glory. It has become the dirtiest river in India. A water treatment plant should be installed to save the river from further pollution.
I will be highly grateful to you if you kindly print this matter in your esteemed daily and arouse public interest. Let us all stand together and make this mighty river pollution free. Maximum effort lies in the hand of people. If they can check their habit of dumping domestic waste into the river and cooperate with the Government, then in very less time the river can get back its lost glory.
Thanking you
Yours sincerely
Mou Banerjee.
