Dear Mainak,
I hope you are doing well. I have been thinking of writing you since some days. Then I got my new cell phone which made me so excited that I can’t stay without sharing feelings with you. So, I got my long awaited gift solar cell phone from my father on my last birthday. He did not inform me before and gave me surprise. I was literally speechless when I opened the gift box and found out newly launched solar 555 cell phone by solar energy. The battery of the phone is solar power charged which last for two days with constant usage. Besides that it has all the smart features and multimedia systems which we get in any modern smart phone. I will show you more when you will come in my house.
I will wait for you as I have so many stories to speak with you which I can’t write in this letter. Take care. See you soon.
Yours affectionately,
Susmita

C.3.)
Name | Age | Year of becoming an astronaut | No. of space Journeys | Experience with zero gravity | Ways of staying fit | Memorable moments | What one has learnt from the travels |
1. Peggy Whitson | 48 | 1996 | 2 | Nice, felt younger | Cardio exercises, resistance training | Incredible, earth’s curvature | Exploration a must |
2. Pamela Melroy | 47 | 1995 | 3 | Magical, zero gravity | Cheered by whitson and her crew | Long term pay-off | |
3. Sunita Williams | 43 | 1998 | 1 | Hard | Running | Flying versus walking | Under standing oneness |
4. Barbara Morgan | 56 | 1985 | 1 | Fun-filled | Power of food | Upside down position | To remain optimistic |
C.4.)
1.) Peggy Whitson has been described as a ‘walking laboratory’ because she was sufficiently equipped for describing the long-term effects of zero gravity.
2.) Peggy feels that returning to earth is not a pleasant experience as her agility and quick motion were severely checked.
3.) Pam Melroy and her crew members were applauded when they came on board after they docked the aircraft with the international space station.
4.) The historic moment during Pam Melroy’s space flight was that it was the first time two women were in charge of two space crafts at the same time.
5.) According to Melroy the space station is important because of the sheer act of sending humans into an extremely hostile environment in space.
6.) ‘Being a rookie’means an untrained recruit.
7.) Sunita Williams donated her hair because she knew the trauma of cancer patients to fight the disease.
8.) Sunita Williams broke the record of Shannon lucid’s previous endurance of space time.
9.) Barbara had to wait for her turn to go into space because in the tragic fall of challenger in 1986, Morgan returned to Idaho to resume her teaching career. In august 2007, he blasted off in the shuttle for a 13 day mission as a full time astronaut.
10.) Morgan’s work on the space shuttle was to operate the space station’ robotic arms and teach lessons via on board video about the life on space.
D.1.)
1.) The letter suggests that the writer I a living being but lives in another planet not the earth. The planet is also in galaxy. The living being is not acquainted about the earth, its inhabitants etc.
2.) I think that there is possibility of growing a friendship between the writer and pen pal.
D.2.)
1.) It means a life composed of water and carbon compounds just like life on the earth made of.
2.) no non-hydrocarbon form is known to the human race till now. It can be imagined only as any form. Some examples are:
i) it can be a giant like form or tree body through which mercury will flow in place of blood.
ii) it can be haped as giant like without no eyes and ears, living on helium in place of oxygen.
1.) Skander cannot hold ordinary paper because it gets burnt at his contact with his body temperature of 250 degree Celsius.
2.) Skander is in prison because he committed some crime or unlawful action. Though he did not mention exactly what he has done.
D.3.
1.) From the first two letters we have learned that skander is a scientist. He lives in planet AurigaeII and is not a hydrocarbon form of life like us. He is in jail for committing forbidden experiments on his own body. He communicates with other planet by exchanging letters from interstellar correspondence club. He has longer life expectancy than humans on earth.
2.) skander had been amusing at intercepting communication with other planets with galaxy. He developed system for intercepting communications and understanding letters of pen pal out of curiosity. The description of the earth seemed interesting to him which developed liking for the planet. so, he started the correspondence with pen pal.
3.) skander is of high mental calibre. He has interests to know everything possible about different planets which was revealed by the developed system of intercepting communication. His experimenting with his body shows that he was so curious in gathering knowledge that he can risk his own body.
D.6.)
1.) Pen pal might get suspicious about the uncommon photographic plate. S, he showed it to a doctor to know what it was actually.
2.) skander needs a photograph to know his friend as we are generally keen to keep photographs of our friends. He can also think of keeping a photograph of a living being from earth which was unique thing for inhabitants of planet Aurigae II. Being inquisitive and a scientist he may have the eagerness to know more about human beings.
3.) Pen pal’s government was afraid with that fact that if he continues intercepting communication something dangerous may happen like an epidemic. Some other problems can also come from other planets of the galaxy for spying.
D.7.)
1.) skander played a trick by placing pen pal’s photograph near him and activating a sub-space energy flow between two photographic plates. Now, he lived in pen pal’s body and pen pal in his body by keeping the memories intact.
2.) skander did this because he was much fascinated with the description of the earth. For that he developed a desire of living in that planet, escaping from the prison and having a tour of the universe.
3.) This might be possible in the future. No one can ever know in advance what humans can do with computer aided knowledge and learning in this age of science and technology.
- There are both advantages and disadvantages in doing so. Advantages are in the way like humans will get new knowledge and experiences by changing their body. Humans will be greatly benefitted if a scientist’s soul can be transferred into a young person’s body with weak mind.
The disadvantages are horrible as evil mind of humans can be transferred into the mind of a virtuous person. There would be created utter level of confusion and chaos altogether. Unimagined problems and difficultieswould be created in this age. There will be many other disadvantages related to atmosphere and environment.
4.) Yes, there were clues present to know what skander was planning. These are:
Earth… I would like to live there for a while, how I plan to visit earth, kinder ask pen pal to send a photograph of himself, it would be pleasant to leave my body behind and tour the universe.
D.8.)
1.) the letter has been written by original pen pal.
Original pen pal is now living a disease free life. The original skander has realised that people on the earth experience heart attacks and paralysis more.
It is clear from the last letter that the writer has become accustomed with a new name skander signed in the letter. This signifies the writer’ old name is pen pal.
2.) he lives on the planet aurigae.
3.)
i) B. He has served his complete term of punishment.
ii) D. accused of a crime.
iii)C.
i) B. Do unto others as you would have them do to you.
5.)
Dear pen pal,
I know you will be surprised to receive my letter after five years. I hope you are doing fine. Nothing has changed so far in this period. Life has become usual thing with time being. I enjoyed the initial period of settling in AurigaeII but it did not last long.
At present situation, I am still in jail. I have tried multiple time to correspond with other planets but failed. There is no means of doing any experiment without having proper knowledge of it. Besides that I don’t have mental capability and stability to attempt multiple times without any outcomes.
I don’t have any further plans or thoughts. I am spending life as hell in jail. I am into your body but my mind and thoughts work like an earth’ human. There is no compatibility between my body and mind. I do not feel confident to do any experiment like you for the lack of knowledge. I feel really trapped into your body. All the facilities and equipment of experiments are present in the laboratories here. Still I cannot transfer myself. You played a trick and we both had to face the result. We both have to suffer for long.
skander
Dear skander,
I hope you remember what just happened with me five years ago.
You may get hocked to know that I am going through very painful situation. When I was in Aurigae, the earth seemed so fascinating to me. But I do not feel anything exciting now. My mind do not feel compatible with body for which I face troubles at every step. I suffered due the weakness of the body which cause acute pain for long. Even I faced troubles and got injured several times.
My thoughts are not imprisoned forever which I cannot apply as per my wish. I had very active mind earlier but now I am unable to do anything for me with my thoughts. I do not have facilities, equipment in laboratory here so I do not have any future plan further. There is only suffering for me which I am facing every way. Now I regret each moment my curiosity of having a tour of the world. I am counting days only to die because I have no aim for living except suffering in this life. I have to struggle each day for living. The earth is really a strange place and its human beings are stranger to me.
