(a) If 40 kilogram of potato are divided with 5 kilogram in each part.How many parts of potatoes are there?

(b) 25 kilogram of masur dal is divided equally into 5 parts. How many kilogram of masur dal will be there in each part?
Answer: 25 ÷ 5 = 5

(c) Aayan’s father bought 5 kilogram of rice, 2 kilogram of sugar, 1 kilogram of onion from the market. Find the total weight of the things bought by Aayan’s father
Answer: Rice bought= 5 kilogram
Sugar bought = 2 kilogram
Onion bought = 1 kilogram
Total weight of the things bought = 5 + 2 + 1 = 8 kilograms
(d) From a sack of 50 kilogram of rice, a cook used 15 kilogram of rice on the first day, 17 kilogram on the second day and 12 kilogram on the third day for preparing the mid-day meal. How many kilogram of rice is left in the sack?
Answer:
Quantity of rice in sack = 50 kilogram
Uses rice on first day = 17 kilogram
Uses rice on second day = 12 kilogram
Quantity of rice left in the sack on third day = 50 – ( 17 + 12)
Quantity of rice left in the sack on third day = 50 –29
Quantity of rice left in the sack on third day = 21 kilogram
(e) Rehena’s father sells 5 kilogram of potatoes everyday from his farm. How many kilogram of potato will he sell in 1 week? How many kilogram of potato will he sell in the month of January? (1 week = 7 days, January month is of 31 days)
Answer:
Quantity of potatoes sell everyday by Rehena’s father = 5 kilogram
Quantity of potatoes will he sell in 1 week = 7 × 5 = 35 kilogram
Quantity of potatoes will he sell in month of January = 31 × 5 = 155 kilogram
(f) Kaveri’s weight is 36 kilogram 500 gram. Her younger sister’s weight is 31 kilogram 20 gram. What is the total weight of both of them. How much less is the weight of her sister then Kaveri?
Answer:
Weight of Kaveri = 36 kilogram 500 grams
Weight of younger sister = 31 kilogram 20 gram
Total weight of both of them = 67 kg 520 gm
Younger sister weight is less than kaveri by = 5 kg 480 gm
(g) Pranab’s aunt bought mangoes and guavas weighing 4kg 500gm. If the weight of guava is 2kg 250gm. What is the weight of the mangoes?
Answer: Pranab’s aunt bought mangoes and guavas = 4kg 500 gm
Weight of guava = 2kg 250 gm
Weight of mangoes = Total weight- weight of guava
Weight of mangoes = 4kg 500 gm – 2kg 250 gm
Weight of mangoes = 2kg 250 gm
(h) Haridhan has 30kg 250gm of sugar in his shop. He sold 25kg 120gm. How much sugar is left in his shop? Haridhan again brought 17 kilogram 500 gram sugar to his shop. How much sugar will be there in the shop?
Answer:
Sugar haridhan has = 30 kg 250 gm
Sugar haridhan sold = 25 kg 120 gm
Sugar left in the shop = 5kg 130 gm
Again haridhan brought sugar = 17 kg 500 gm
Quantity of sugar there in the shop = 5 kg 500 gm + 17 kg 500 gm
Quantity of sugar there in the shop = 23 kg
(i) During Magh Bihu Ramal’s father caught 23kg of fish from his pond. He distributed 2 kilogram of fish to 9 families of the neighbourhood. How many kilogram of fish Ramal’s father kept for own family?
Answer: Fish caught by Ramal’s father = 22 kg
Fish distributed to 9 families of neighborhoods = 2 kilogram
Kilogram of fish left with Ramal’s father for his own family = 20 kilogram
(j) Madhu brought 1 kg rice from the shop. His mother made 40 ghilapitha out of it. How many kilogram of rice will be required to make 120 pithas?
Answer:
Rice madhu brought from shop = 1kg
Quantity of ghilapitha made out of 1kg rice = 40
Rice required to make 120 pithas = 120 ÷ 40 = 3
