A Game of Chance Summary
In Rasheed’s village Eid was celebrated every year for one day and also fair was on but it stayed many days. They can found everything from this fair as many tradesmen come here from different villages. His uncle took him to the fair along with the household’s worker Bhaiya. It was very crowed so uncle made to stand at one place and left with his friends for some time with the warning not to go very far and not to buy things in his absence.
Rasheed visited different shops with Bhaiya and then arrived at the shop, which called Lucky shop to play a game of chance. In that game the player has to give 50 paisa and in return will get 6 numbered discs. If the sum of the disc matched with the article number, the shopkeeper was giving the visitor that article.
Rasheed saw that an old man came and got a wall clock worth 15 rupees. After that, a boy come and also won a comb, fountain pen, a wrist watch and than a table lamp and by selling all this, he get a huge sum of money.
Rasheed also tried his luck but remained unlucky in winning good articles, he won only cheap items like pencils, ink bottle etc. Moreover he lost all his money and was feeling very sad about it. He thought that all this depends on luck and he does not have that one.
When uncle returned back then saw faded Rasheed and Bhaiya told him the entire story. His uncle did not get angry on him but took him to different shop and bought him so many gifts. Uncle told that it was not bad luck or foolishness but that old man and the boy were friends of the shopkeeper. They playing tricks with the customer to play and lose.
