Comprehension III
1.) The POP campaign leader’s meeting with Roof shows the misuse of transparency in a democratic set up. Discuss.
Ans. Democracy is such a system where there is freedom and transparency but also there is downside to it. During the election time we see many times that politicians bribe people and buy votes. The value of vote is decided over a piece of currency and not on the work of the politician. This ruins the whole system. When Roof was bribed by the POP’ s leader, he too took the money and played a smart game. If such things continues, there would be no proper system and people would stop have belief in democracy.

Though it is wrong to give and accept bribe, but common people like Roof have no option but to accept it for sake of their needs.

Ans. The story deeply depicts the whole ruined electoral system. In a democratic system also there is dirty game. There is no transparency and honest in electoral system. We can see that even today at the times of election votes are sold and bought and only dirty politics is being played.

Ans. Yes, I agree with the above statements. Democracy is not just holding elections and declaring results but it also taking into consideration the opinions of the citizens. It is also looking after citizen’s demands and needs and fulfilling them to time to time.
