(1) Agastyaar Koodam is one of the peaks in the western Ghats of Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala & Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu, India.
(2) This peak is a part of Agasthyamala Biosphere reserve which lies on the border between the Indian states of Tamil nadu, Tirunelveli district & Kerala, Thiruvnthapuram district.
(3) It is about 1868 meters (6129 ft) height.
(4) In Tamil Traditions Agastya is considered as a father of the tamil language & the complier of the first Tamil grammar called Agattiyam or Akattiyam.
(5) There is a small stone statue of Agathiyar at the top of the peak.
(6) Karamana river which originates from this mountain which flow through the Thiruvnthapuram district & is the major source of drinking water to the city & the Neyyar River.

(13) Agasthymala Biosphere reserve is among 20 new sites added by UNESCO to its world network of biosphere reserves in march 2016.
(14) The Internation Co – ordnating council added the new sites during a two – day meeting on 19 March 2016 in Lima, bringing the total number of biosphere reserve to 669 sites in 120 countries, including 16 transboundry sites.
(15) The biosphere reserve include close to 300 rare bird species & more than 200 medicinal plant endemic to this region.
(16) Agastyaar Koodam is 32 km from Neyyar Dam & 22 km from Bonacaud, near VITHURA & PONMUDI.
(17) The major city & airport nearest to Agastyaar Koodam is Thiruvnathpuram & it’s Trivandrum international airport around 61 km away.
(18) Kalakkad mundanthurai Tiger reserve is part of the Agastyaar Koodam Range.
(19) Part of the peak can be seen from the upper Kodayar region.
(20) Tourists are permitted to the area only with permission from the forest department of Kerala.
