The golden city tag of Rajasthan goes to Jaisalmer. Jaisalmer had Been on my bucket list since a very long time. I have seen so many beaches, mountains, hill stations but the desert area remained to be travelled. And finally, one day we had planned our trip to Jaisalmer.
As I am living in Nashik, so there is no any direct train from Nashik to Jaisalmer. So, we have two options of trains , either from Pune or Mumbai but the convenient route for us is via Mumbai as we reach there within 3 hours. There are several trains from Mumbai to Jaisalmer.
Then we found one direct train from Mumbai to Jaisalmer , only boards on Fridays named as “Bandra terminus Jaisalmer express” ( 22931 ). The train boards from the Bandra Terminus ( Bdts ) at 12.15 pm and it reaches Jaisalmer at 9:00 a.m. There are no direct flights from Nasik to Jaisalmer so we found this train convenient for our trip.
My mom , dad , brother, and me finally going to Jaisalmer. We had reached the Bandra terminus station via local trains at 11 a.m. and got the train on time. The train journey was nothing short of laughter , homemade meals , Parathas, and an aloo ki sabji, non-stop conversations and memorable family time.
Finally, the destination arrived sharp at 9:00 a.m. in the morning. As soon as we landed there, we realized that there is no use of our warm cloths. It is the time of October and there is quite pleasant atmosphere. We had over booked in hotel Chokhi Dhani which is around 6 km away from the railway station. It’s a 4-star hotel with luxury rooms and decent hospitality. Then we had a buffet in hotel and got relaxed for some time. In the evening, we had planned to go to the Jaisalmer fort.
Jaisalmer Fort –
Jaisalmer fort is in the Jaisalmer city the 250 feet tall and it was built by ‘Maharana Rawal Jaisal’ over 800 years ago. The city derived its name from this. On the fort, there are great pieces of architecture along with Raja’s mahal and Rani’s mahal , Jain temple, laxminath temple and four gates. It has many house shops selling local , traditional, and cultural products.
Raja’s mahal looks like a museum that displays so many weapons, marble thrones and their royal garbs. From the top of the fort , we enjoyed the overall view of the Jaisalmer city and going towards our next stop that was ‘Gadisar lake’.
Gadisar Lake –
We are thrilled to see the lake in the desert area. The lake was beautiful surrounded by temples and shrines. There is beautiful dome shaped shrine in the middle which is favorite place for the shooting many films. We enjoyed the fountain show there and we also enjoyed our boating in that lake.
Patwoon ki Haweli –
The beauty and architecture of this haveli was something beyond our imagination. As soon as we entered the haveli We got to know about history of Indian culture. Is a cluster of 5 haveli’s built by members of a family and lined up one after the other. The entrance room has wall design with glass pieces and My dad told me that this is the place where shooting of Siya ram ad taken place. After these three places, we decided to go to the hotel.
On the second day of our trip, we have decided to go to the two temples one is Gajrup Sagar temple and Chundhi Ganesh temple with kuldhara village
(Horror Village in Jaisalmer). First , we visited Chundhi Ganesh temple which is Ganesh mandir surrounded by a river and small other temples. The people of Jaisalmer have lot of faith on this god. They stated that it has so many spiritual values.
Kuldhara village –
After that , we visited kuldhara village , there are so many broken walls and houses with broken things there. I cannot find anything horror on that place. I thought that it was just a tourist attraction.
Khaba Fort –
The Khaba Fort is located near Kuldhara Village and it is just a fort having beautiful architectural designs on the gates n walls. We have done some family photoshoots here and then moved towards next destination.
Gajrup Sagar temple –
Then we moved towards the Gajrup Sagar temple. Then well spend evening at Gajrup Sagar temple with a scenic view and sunset view. We felt so positive and calm there and then we return to our hotel.
Longewala yudhha Sthal –
On our third day of trip , we had planned the three places Longewala Yuddha Sthal , ‘Tanot Mata Mandir’ with Pakistan Border and Sam sand dunes. As planned, we wake up early in the morning and we reached the Longewala Yuddha Sthal at 10 a.m. in the morning. There are some pieces of 1971 Indo-Pak war with a small movie for the tourists. The movie was amazing and I feel very proud that I am the child of My country. I am feeling so proud that I am an Indian.
Tanot mandir –
After that We ate some snacks and reached our next destination at 1:00 p.m. that is Tanot Mata Mandir. This temple had many historical and spiritual connection. You must visit this place. After that we had gone to the Indo Pak border and saw nothing but the only one Post of Pakistan army.
Sam Sand Dunes –
Then we took a break in the midway to ‘Sam sand dunes’ and had our lunch. We have reached The Sam at 5pm in the evening. It was the best time I’ve spend in Jaisalmer. First, we had our Camel Ride then Desert Safari with the Thar and it was the thrilling experience of my journey. After enjoying the desert safari with the sunset view, we decided to have a stop at Chokhi Dhani tents located on Sam Road. It provides a comfortable stay with all modern amenities and has the setup of Rajasthani traditional village with beautiful decoration and they also have entertainment programs like puppet shows magic shows folk dances ethnic foods and drinks. That we feel that our trip to Jaisalmer is incomplete without a stay in the tents which brings us very close to the desert lives.
Local shopping day- On our fourth day morning we had our breakfast and we return to our hotel in Jaisalmer. The fourth day is only for local shopping and local travelling. We had some Rajasthani lunch over there. The Chapati with the local traditional dish ‘ Ker-sangari’ was just a traditional meal. Me and mom purchases some dresses and my father and brother purchased some traditional cloths there.
The trip was so perfect as we planned and it is the time to go back our place by saying heartful goodbye to this city.
