(b) conditioning.
Q3. Describe all types of behaviour discussed in the lesson with appropriate example.
Ans- There are three types of behaviour discussed in the lesson they are as follows:
- Animal behaviour – There are types in animal behaviour they are instinct, imprinting, conditioning and imitation.
E.g. chickens and ducklings are able to walk almost immediately after hatching from egg. This is example of imprinting behaviour.
- Human behaviour – There are types in human behaviour they are instinct, imitation and conditioning.
E.g. Hungry people eat immediately when they come to dining table but they wait till all are seated. This is example of instinct behaviour.
- Investigation behaviour – Investigation behaviour includes investigation in field and tagging.
E.g. Animals can signal to each other. Some scientists investigate such signals and study them.
Q4. Differentiate between:-
- Imitation and imprinting:
Imitation |
Imprinting |
Imitation is a type of animal and human behaviour. |
Imprinting is type of animal behaviour. |
People can imitate each other. |
Animals recognise their mother due their behaviour is called as imprinting. |
This can help them to learn a new skill. | Imprinting is useful in recognising their mother to young ones. |
- Instinct and conditioning:
Instinct |
conditioning |
Instinct is a type of animal and human behaviour. |
Conditioning is type of human behaviour. |
Instinctual behaviours are the behaviours to be learned. |
Conditioning can be used to change the behaviour of human. |
In humans instinct behaviour is common and it is learner. |
Conditioning is skilled activity done by advertisers. |
Q5. How human behaviour is different from behaviour of other animals? Explain with an example.
Ans- Human behaviour and animal behaviour don’t have so much difference. Some animals behave like humans in some situations and humans behave like animals some situations. Humans are the only animals that copy each other and imitate. E.g. monkey behaves like human and some humans behave like monkey.
Q8.Look at this picture. How do you feel about caring nature of animals. Have you ever seen such kind of situations in your surroundings? Explain in your own words.
Ans- The given picture shows the love and care of a mother. A mother always cares a child like a baby even child is grown up. That’s the nature of mother. The animal monkey in the given picture takes its child in its lap, that can tell the bonding between mother and child is adorable. The caring nature of animals is same like the humans. I have seen the kangaroo carrying it’s baby in its pouch. Seeing that animal was very attractive and so lovable. Hence the animals also behave same as human in caring and loving.
