5.) b. Bacteria
6.) d. a,b,c and d
II.) Fill in the blanks.
1.) _________ is a consumer. (Cow / Soil)
2.) A young plant is known as _______. (Tree / sapling)
3.) Planting of sapling provides ________. (Oxygen / land)
4.) World Environment Day is _________. (June 15th / June 5th)
5.) _______ gets food from dead plants and animals. (Decomposers / Producers)
Answer
1.) Cow
2.) Sapling
3.) Oxygen
4.) June 5th
5.) Decomposer
III.) Match the following.
1.) Stone – Consumer
2.) Bacteria – Abiotic factor
3.) Plants – Decomposer
4.) Buffalo – Producers
Answer
1.) Stone – Abiotic factory
2.) Bacteria – Decomposer
3.) Plants – Producer
4.) Buffalo – Consumer
IV.) Say true or false.
1.) Abiotic factors are important for biotic factors.
2.) River is an example for biotic factor.
3.) ‘Van Mahotsav’ is organized during the first week of July every year.
4.) Plants are the consumers.
5.) Plants provide food and shelter to living things.
Answer
1.) True
2.) False
3.) True
4.) False
5.) True
V.) Answer the following.
1.) Vijay placed two things ‘P’ and ‘R’ (one living and one non-living) in separate cages with food and water.
Number of weeks Weight of ‘P’ Weight of ‘R’
Week 1 2 kg 1.5 kg
Week 2 4 kg 1.5 kg
Week 3 6 kg 1.5 kg
Week 4 8 kg 1.5 kg
a.) Which thing is likely to be a living thing? Give reason for your answer.
b.) What will be the weight of living thing in week 6?
2.) Write two examples for biotic and abiotic factors.
3.) Write any three differences between living and non-living things.
4.) List the abiotic factors needed for insects.
5.) What are the biotic factors of a balanced ecosystem?
6.) Why plants are called primary producers?
7.) Write any four benefits of plants.
Answer
1.) a. ‘P’ is the living thing.
P is the living thing because the weight of P is increasing day by day. Vijay gave food and water in both cage but only P consumed food and water that’s why his weight is increased, but R’s weight is not increasing.
So it’s clear that P is a living thing and non-living things cannot eat anything and weight cannot be changed. Therefore R is a non-living thing.
b.) The weight of living thing in 6 week will be 10 kg.
2.) Two examples of,
Biotic factors – Human, plants
Abiotic factors- wood, stone
3.) Three differences between living and nonliving thing are given below,
Living
They can breathe and grow
They need food to live
They give birth to young ones
Non- living
They cannot breathe and grow
They do not need food to live
They do not give birth to young ones
4.) The abiotic factors needed for insects are air, soil, small creatures.
5.) The biotic factors of a balanced ecosystem are producers, consumers and decomposers.
6.) The living things that can prepare their own food are called producers. Green plants are the producers. They make their own food by the process of photosynthesis. Hence, they are called primary producers.
Human and animals depend on plants for their food.
6.) Four benefits of plants are,
Plants provide oxygen for breathing
Plants provide food and shelter to living things
Give food for making furniture
Offer a good environment to live.
