Answer:
National service scheme is a government-aided program which is designed to develop the character and personality of students. The key feature of this program is that it brings together students from all universities and colleges to indulge into community development activities. Our school took part in a recent inter-school NSS camp where students got multiple chances to shape their growth through community services. The camp was held in a remote village far from the main part of the city. Around 250 students from various schools of the city took part in this NSS camp. The main purpose of that event was to encourage students for taking part in community development, environment conservation activities and social awareness among students. there were programs like construction of sanitary facilities, tree plantation, health and hygiene awareness, health check-up etc. the camp was organised by the host school with the cooperation of local government and community leaders.
All the participants took part in various activities of the camp which affected them about society and environment largely. Through the tree plantation program students made an area full of trees. By providing sanitation facility they assured to guide local citizens about the awareness of using sanitisation for their own health. From the health and hygiene campaign people has become about the benefits of maintaining good health practices. The cultural exchange program has promoted integration and harmony among participants. They grew interest about knowing different culture, tradition and customs around them. The camp has been successful after evaluating the number of tree plantation, construction of sanitary facilities, health service facilities and cultural exchange. We have faced some challenges too in this camp like inadequate funding, lack of participation, lack of awareness. To address this challenges and overcome the issues the local government and organisations might come for help.
