Objectives type questions.
(1.) Which technique is suitable for the disposal of bio medical waste-
Ans-b) incineration
(2.) Recycling is the best treatment for what type of waste-
Ans- a) Metal waste
(3.) Which of the following is the main green house gas-
Ans- c) carbon dioxide
(4.) How much average waste per person gets in the big cities of India-
Ans- d) 0.4 to 0.6kg
(5.) Organic manure can be made from-
Ans-c) both
Very short type questions
(6.) How biogas is made?
Ans-biogas is made to processing of various types of organic waste.
(7.) What is waste?
Ans-the waste materials or products that are formed at the end of any process are called waste .
(8.) Write the names of green house gases?
Ans- carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous gases.
(9.) What is vermicompost?
Ans- it is a product of the decomposition process using species of worms, usually red wigglers, white worms and earthworms etc. are known as vermicompost.
(10.) Which diseases can be caused due to the stoppage of water in the drains?
Ans-Cryptospoidiosis.
Short type questions
(11.) Explain waste management?
Ans-waste management is collection, transportation and disposal of garbage , sewage and other waste products. Waste management consiste of soild, liquid , gas and radioactive substances. Different methods and expertise are used for each substances. Methods of waste management is different developing and developed countries, villagers and cities, residential and industries producers.
The government of India constituted the Shivaraman Committee for waste management work which suggested the establishment of larfe dustbins, proper disposal of human excretory waste etc.
(12.) What is meant by solid waste?
Ans-the waste like paper, cloth, plastic, glass, rubber, etc and the other waste like industrial waste in the solid form and the any other waste like composable or decomposable waste are in included in the solid waste.
(13.) Write difference between biodegradable and non biodegradable waste?
Ans-
Bio degradable waste |
Non Biodegradable waste |
Those waste materials that are decomposable by biological agents are called biodegradable waste. |
Those waste materials are not decomposable by the biological agents are called no bio-degradable waste. |
Example- organic waste ,agricultural waste etc. |
Examples- plastic bottles, glass, syringe, metal pipes. Etc. |
(14.) What do you understand by landfill?
Ans-it is a waste management process, landfills are often made in non-use-mines, mining pits etc. this is a very clean and relatively low cost method of waste disposal, but this process shows reverse effect on environment so now a days from this method electricity produced.
(15.) What does the recycling mean?
Ans-recycling meaning is the conversion of waste into new material is known as recycling by which the waste material is renewed.
(16.) Incineration method is used for what purpose?
Ans-in this method execution of the waste materials are burned at high temperature by which waste are converted into heat, gas, steam and ash. So this method is used for small scale as well as on the large scale industries for execution of solid, liquid and gas waste.
Essay type questions
(17.) Describe the types of waste?
Ans-depending on the nature of waste can be classified as solid, liquid, gaseous waste but the two main types of waste are-
Biodegradable waste – those waste materials that are decomposed by biological agents are called biodegradable waste. Such as domestic organic waste, agriculture waste, bio-medical waste etc.
Non-bio-degradable waste- those waste materials that are not decomposable by biological agents are called non- biodegradable waste. Such as bottles, plastics, polythene etc.
(18.) Write an article on waste management?
Ans- waste management is collection, transportation and disposal of garbage , sewage and other waste products. Waste management consists of soild, liquid , gas and radioactive substances. Different methods and expertise are used for each substances. Methods of waste management is different developing and developed countries, villagers and cities, residential and industries producers.
The government of India constituted the Shivaraman Committee for waste management work which suggested the establishment of larfe dustbins, proper disposal of human excretory waste etc. some methods are also used for control the waste like
Landfill, incineration, recycling methods, chemical reactions etc are used to control waste managements.
(19.) Write an essay on the sources of waste?
Ans- there are various sources of waste as following-
a) Household waste- dirt is released every day after the cleaning the houses, like paper, cardboard, clothes, plastics ,wood metal pipes, vegetables and fruits etc all these products are thrown out of the houses on roads or any fixed places. Their routine creates many pathogens, pollution and spread diseases also.
b) Municipal waste- total garbage and dirt collected from city, in addition to domestic household wastes it includes faces, urine, waste collected from markets. In fact the entire dirt of town is included in it.
c) Industrial waste- large amount of waste of used products are thrown in huge quantities from industries. It include pieces of metals, chemical substances, many posions inflammable substances, oily substances acidc and alkaline substances etc some are biodegradable but mostly are non bio degradable and from them environmental pollution is caused.
d) Agriculture – after the agriculture activity cultures of pastures, grass- straw leaves, stalk are collected at one place or spread out. This waste are stars routine and at the rain time due to its biological activities decomposer causes pollution.
e) Medical sector- this sector also have huge no of wastes products like bottles os saline, tubes, syrings and they causes pollution.
This are the various and main sources of wastes.
(20.) What will you do for management of waste in your colony or village?
Ans- 1. I will tell the people the importance of cleanliness and waste management.
2. arrange the different dustbin for different type of wastes elike bio degradable and non biodegradable.
- give seminar on the waste management.
- I will tell about peoples about the effects about wastes on environment and how to manage the waste.
- I will maintain proper management and cleanses in my colony or village.
