Ans: Man is attached to many social communities such as family, school, neighbourhood etc. Man has the ability to think and can develop various qualities like – affection, sympathy, sacrifice, respect etc. Hence, human being is called a social animal.
(2) Which is the basic unit of society?
Ans: Family is the basic unit of society.
(3) What is the difference between tribal and city life.
Ans: Tribal people used to live in Jungles and hunted birds, animals for their food and gradually started practicing agriculture and moved from place to place in search of new pastures. They often lived in small groups. The city life on the other hand is much developed and organised in its structure. With the development of mankind, population increased and well organised society was formed.
(4) How human beings are different from other living things?
Ans: Human beings have the unique ability to think which make them different from other living beings.
(5) Why and how society is essential for man?
Ans: Society or community is essential for man because human beings cannot live in isolation and is known as social being. The rural and urban people are dependent upon each other to fulfill their daily needs. The society fulfills the need for food, clothing, shelter, knowledge personal development etc of human beings.
(6) Why and how urbanisation developed in the society.
Ans: With the passage of time, the human population increased and they started living in groups gradually man learnt to grow crops and ate cereals which led to agriculture occupation and an organised stable community life came into existence. After agriculture based community, village life came into existence. The interdependence of various social groups led to the urbanisation of the society.
