(i). What is an ecosystem?
Answer
Ecosystem is a group of living organisms like Human, animal ,plant in combination with the non-living section of the environment things like air, water and soil link as a system. Relation between the living organisms, as well as the relation between the Non-living organisms and their surroundings forms a Ecosystem.
Some examples of ecosystem are
- Mountain
- Rain forest
- Grassland
- River, Lake, Pond
- Dessert
(ii). What do you mean by natural environment?
Answer
Everything which is naturally created by Mother Earth.The Natural Environment consists of biotic (plants and animals) and abiotic (land,water) conditions that exist on the earth.
(iii).Which are the major components of the environment?
Answer
The Major components of the environment are
- Lithosphere/ Land
Lithosphere is the hard top layer of the earth. It is made up of rocks and minerals and covered by a thin layer of soil. Consist of various landforms such as mountains, plateaus, plains, valleys, etc.
- Hydrosphere/ Water
It is the various different water bodies formed naturally like rivers, lakes, seas, oceans, etc.
- Atmosphere
It’s the thin layer of air that surrounds the earth. It consists of a number of gases, dust and water vapour.
- Biosphere /Living World
It consist of Plant , AnimalKingdomand the human world.
(iv). Give four examples of human made environment ?
Answer
The four examples of human made environment are
- Roads
- Buildings
- Parks
- Bridges
(v).What is lithosphere?
Answer
The top most layer of Earth which ismade up of rocks and minerals and covered by a thin layer of soil is called the Lithosphere. It consist of various landforms like mountains, plateaus, plains, valleys, etc.
The Lithosphere or the soil which givesshelter ,minerals and food .
(Vi). Which are the two major components of biotic environment?

The two major components of Biotic Environment are

(vii). What is biosphere?
Answer
Biosphere or the living world consist of Plant ,Animal Kingdom and the human world. It is a narrow zone of the earth where land, water and air interact with each other to support life.
