ANS:- The Asiatic law amendment ordinance was signed into the law and Transvaal. It was a humiliating law forcing Indians in the transvaalto register with the ‘register of Asiatics’.It became mandatory for the blacks of Africa to carry an Identity card, and their freedom was curtailed. This was the restriction put up on the blacks in south Africa.

ANS:- Gandhiji launched his first Satyagraha movement in the champaran district in 1917.

1.) Explain the philosophy of satyagraha.
ANS:- Satyagraha is a Sanskrit word means insistence of truth. The main objective of Satyagraha is through patience and satyagraha an unjust person is made aware of truth and justice and also bring transformation of his views. A person following satyagraha should never use violence and untruth means was the teaching of Gandhiji.
Laterly many part of the world people adopted the path of satyagraha to fight against injustice. Gandhijis path of satyagraha made on impact on Martin Luther King who was stuggling for the rights of the blacks in America as well as Nelson Mandela in South Africa.
2.) WHY WAS THE SWARAJ PARTY ESTABLISHED?
ANS:- The swaraj party was established in 1922. It is formed by Motilal Nehru and C.R das in order to fight British colonialism. All the members severaly opposed the unjust policies of British. They demanded that Responsible Government should be given to India in future. Soothe party was established.
(4.) Explain the following statements with reasons:
1.) ROWLATT ACT WAS OPPOSED BY THE PEOPLE OF INDIA.
ANS:- The Rowlatt act was an act imposed by the Britishers passed by the imperial legislative council in Delhi on 17th march in 1919. This act gave the right to government to arrest anybody without any warrant. Appeal was prohibited against the punishment given through this act. The Indians called this act ‘Black Act’. All over india person against this act. Gandhiji launched a satyagraha against on it. On 6th April, 199 he appealed to the Indians to follow Hartal all over the India against the act. Indians responded to this appeal on a large scale. However it was discontinued in March 1922.
2.) GANDHIJI SUSPENDED THE NON CO-OPERATION MOVEMENT.
ANS:- Gandhiji called off the non co-opearation movement for the incident of chauri chaura. This occurred in the place Gorakhpur,Up.In February 1922 the police opened fire on a peaceful procession at chauri chaura. The people were angry and set fire to the police station . 22 policemen were killed along with a officer. Due to this incident Gandhiji was hurt. So Gandhiji suspended the Non co-operation Movement.
3.) THE INDIANS BOYCOTTED THE SIMON COMMISSION.
ANS:- The reforms introduced by the Montague Chelmsford act 1919. There was discontent among the Indian People. The british appointed a commission under the chairmanship of sir john simon. In this commission none of the Indian member was included. Hence the congress decided to boycott the Commission.
4.) khilafat movement was started in india.
Ans:- During the first world war Turkey fought against the British. British had assured that after the end of the war khalifa’s empire will not be harmed. But the end of the world war British did not stick its assuarance. The movement started by Indian Muslims to support the Khalifa was called ‘Khilafat Movement’. Gandhiji thought that on this problem if the Hindus and Muslims come together and start a national movement. It was led by Muhammad ali and Shaukat Ali.
