2) The various aspects of nature have special features that make them differ from one another. Write such special features of each of the following:
Land- Geographical features, shapes, appearance.
Water- Sweet water, salty water, small or large water body.
Trees- Types of soil, seasonal fruits/ flowers, shape of leaves.
Animals- Wild animal, domestic animal, habitat, size.
Insects- Sounds, shape, size, colours.
Answer the following questions:
- How does the Hibiscus flower make the most of its short life span?
Ans. Every fortnight a big, bright and tender flower blooms in the Hibiscus plant. Through the day it smile and dances with the sun, by the evening it becomes dry and droops down and the next day it withers completely, falls and becomes one with the earth again.
- What role does nature plays in our lives?
Ans. Nature soothes and nurtures, it fulfills and motivates, it whispers to us and command us to the right things.
- Who is stronger, water or rocks? Justify your response:
Ands. Though rocks are hard and well sculpted and water is gentle and calm, still with the flow of water every single day, it has the capability to change the shape of the hard rock as well. So it is well proved that water is way stronger than the rocks.
- What teaches us that hard times do not last forever? How?
Ans. Trees bare all leaves in the cold winter months and it seems as if it has died. But as soon as the spring sets in and the trees are back to its green majesty once again, full of leaves, flowers, birds and life once again. This beauty of nature teaches us that however difficult things are right now, it will not remain so forever.

g) Delicate structures are not sign of weakness- Spider’s web.

Ans. Nature’s whispers and commands.
b) What if we too lived our lives, however short, to its fullest?
Ans. We should try to live our lives like that of the hibiscus tree. The flower comes to life only for a day, yet it does it in its full splendor.
c) What if we too are consistent, organized, focused……….?
Ans.If we remain consistent and focused on our goal, we will surely succeed. We must keep on trying and shouldn’t give up like those of the ants.

Ans. Nature is the biggest teacher of life problems and inspiration as well. Whenever we face any difficulty in life we should see through nature and should learn how the natural things deal with difficulties and hurdles.
(b) ‘An oyster can turn a grain of sand into a pearl.’ What can we learn from this example?
Ans.An oyster has the capability of turning mere sand into pearl with its touch, calmness and consistency of nature. It teaches us to be consistent and patient in the same way if we want to reach our goal.
(c) How does nature succeed in its ‘Alchemy’? What can it turn a small person into?
Ans. The word Alchemy means turning a mere lead into gold only by its touch. So nature has its own mysterious and healing way. It soothes and nurtures, fulfills and motivates and enhances human beings as well and encourages us to become what we want and wish to be.
(d) Which two aspects of nature teach us to accept change and adjust according to the situation?
Ans. The withering of rocks with the flow of ocean water and secondly the change of seasons teaches is to accept changes and adjust according to the situation.
(e) Why does the writer begin by quoting the lines from William Blake’s poem (Auguries of Innocence)?
Ans. The lines from William Blake’s poetry means that there is a beauty in nature and it can teach us a lot of things if we try to look closer into nature and its natural aspects. Here in the lesson as well the writer talks about nature and its alchemy, so what could be better than starting the lesson with the beautiful lines from ‘Auguries of Innocence.’
