What is Future Tense | Rules and Examples
Future tense is used for expressing the actions which are going to happen in the near future. Though we refer certain action in future tense with full confidence about its happening but it is related some uncertainty and probability too. Like other two tenses future tense is also divided into four parts that are: simple future, future continuous, future perfect and future perfect continuous tense. Simple future tense:
With simple future tense we can express future actions which comes with less obvious. Simple future tense is applicable only for certain actions, events, situations, states that will happen after some time of the present. The structure of simple present tense formation will be:

Future continuous tense refers the actions which are going to happen for some time in the near future. Adverbs of time will be used with this tense as modifiers just to mention the time limit to tell about how long an action will take place. The formation of future continuous tense will be like this:

Rules of using future continuous tense are given for correct usage:
i) To refer any future action which will happen for prolonged time period or will be continued for some time.
Ex.
We will be waiting for you outside the restaurant.
ii) To express an action which is going on when another action takes place at the same time.

He will be studying when you return home.
iii) To mention any planned event for future which is related to travels.
Ex.
I will be spending my summer vacation in any hill station.
iv) For asking any question in a more polite way.

Future perfect tense:
Future perfect tense mentions the actions that will have been completed within any certain period of time in near future. With this tense we can know the time of finishing an action. For that we have no reason to think about any ongoing activity unnecessarily. Using time adverbs is essential in this tense for informing about the definite time of completing an action. The formation of future perfect tense will be:
Subject+ shall/will+ have+ main verb 3rd form+ object or other words.
Rules of future perfect continuous tense are mentioned below:
i) To refer the completion of an action within a certain time of future.
Ex.
We will have finished this project by next week.
I will have completed reading this book before you come again.
Future perfect continuous tense:
Future perfect continuous tense will be used to refer the actions which will be happening for certain time period but will also be finished in future. It basically mentions the action in progress for future time. The formation of future perfect continuous tense will be:
Subject+ shall/will+ have been+ verb-ing+ objects or other words.
The rules of using this tense correctly are explained below:
i) It refers an action in progress over a certain period of time which will end in the near future.
Ex.
I will have been learning music for 10 years this month.
He will have been going for his vacation by this time tomorrow.
