Essay – Library
Library is a place where we get books from. It is a big room containing shelves & cupboards with categories written on it. Numerous numbers of books are stored there to help with the learning of people.
There are various types of libraries, government libraries that are open for all. Many schools & collages also have libraries for the children as well as teachers. The person who looks after the library is called the librarian. The librarian helps people to get the desired book. He also notes the book taken along with the date & the name, phone number & address of the concerned person. We cannot buy a book from the library but we can lend the book for a certain period of time.
Library not only helps by supplying books but it also encourages the reading habit of a person. A person can sit for hours in silence & pure knowledge. Books that are not easily available in the market can be found in the library.
Libraries are always very economical. They charge very less amount of money for a book. Books that are very costly cannot be afforded by everyone. Libraries help everyone to gain knowledge with books.
People need to maintain pin drop silence in the library. The main motive of the library is to encourage reading books. Nowadays people prefer reading from the internet. Libraries are regarded out dated. But actual authentic knowledge can be grasped only from reading a book, from a library. The libraries satisfy the need of a large number of people by displaying a huge variety of books. People go in groups & study together which results in an over all development.
The libraries also help to reflex the mind. The big room filled with books & readers helps to leave back all the worries & stress of a person. A person can read books to relax the mind. Library is not only for adults but it also caters the need of small children & school going kids. Library offers small readers with various story books to improve their reading skills. Books such as encyclopaedia, atlas etc help to gain knowledge, thus bringing in an overall development in a child.
The libraries also has certain disadvantages. A book may not have number of copies to satisfy the needs of a group of people wanting the same book at a time. Secondly the library has restricted hours for reading a book. Moreover if a person is late due to some uncertain reason he won’t be able to read a book due to the limited time table. But the disadvantages are very less compared to the level of knowledge the library imparts on its readers.
