Difference between Systolic and Diastolic pressure
Difference between Systolic pressure and Diastolic pressure are in tabular form below –
No. |
Systolic pressure |
Diastolic pressure |
1. | The blood pressure which is maximum in the arteries and attainable during systole is known as Systolic pressure. | The blood pressure which is minimum and obtained at the end of the ventricular diastole is known as Diastolic pressure. |
2. | The contraction of the left ventricle of the heart which causes maximum arterial pressure, this is referred as Systolic pressure. | The relaxation of the left ventricle of the heart which causes minimum arterial pressure, this is referred as Diastolic pressure. |
3. | In the systolic pressure, muscles of the heart contracts. | In the diastolic pressure, muscles of the heart relaxes. |
4. | Normal range of systolic pressure ranges between 90-120 mm Hg for adults. | Normal range of diastolic pressure ranges between 60-80 mm Hg for adults. |
5. | The process of systolic pressure takes place in the systolic stage of the cardiac cycle. | The process of diastolic pressure takes place in the diastolic stage of the cardiac cycle. |
6. | The pressure increases with age. | The pressure decreases with age. |
