Difference between Synapse and Neurons

Difference between Synapse and Neurons

Difference between Synapse and Neurons are in tabular form below –

No. Synapse

Neurons

1. The site or a junction which mediates information transfer from one neuron to another neuron is a Synapse. The core component of the nervous system, a cell which transmits information by chemical and electrical signalling is a Neuron.
2. This is a Junction between neurons. This is a cell.
3.   Synapses are responsible for passing nerve impulses from one neuron to another. Neurons are the units of brain which are responsible for receiving and transmitting information.
4. Two types of synapses are present in the nervous system

i. e. Chemical and electrical type of synapses.

Three types of neurons are present in the nervous system

i. e. Sensory neurons, Interneurons, and Motor neurons.

5. Structural parts of synapse includes Axon, axon terminal, synapses, synaptic vesicles, and receptors. Structural parts of neuron includes Dendron, nucleus, axon, cell body, node of Ranvier.
6. Synapse is also called as Neuronal junction. Neurons are also called as Nerve cells.
