Difference between Eye lens and Retina
Eye lens
1) Crystalline convex lens is present in human eye which has ability to converge the rays of light.
2) The crystalline semisolid (jelly like) convex lens made up of large number of small fibrous is mounted behind iris has focal length around 2.5 cm.
3) The regulated light from pupil falls on crystalline convex lens.
4) Convex lens receives this light and focuses it at the retina.
5) Convex lens produces the image of object at the retina, which acts as the focus of lens.
6) It functions exactly similar to function of camera lens.
Retina
1) The part of eye, where the image of object is formed is termed as retina.
2) Retina is screen like membrane, made up of large number of light sensitive cells which gets activated on illumination of light.
3) Retina collects all the rays coming from convex lens, and forms real and inverted image of the object.
4) Retina has some light sensitive cells known as photoreceptor cells.
5) After receiving the signals photoreceptor cells in the form image on retina, it further sent to optical nerve to the brain to detect what we have seen.
6) As retina plays very important roles in vision, damage in retina can cause blindness.
