1.) What is Shear Tool?
Ans :- In GIMP, the Shear tool is used for moving the one part of the image to one direction and the another part of the image to the opposite direction. For ex :- In the horizontal shearing the upper part will be shifted to the right side whereas the lower part will be shifted to the left side.
2.) What is Blurring?
Ans :- When any of the image or picture is not clear. In other words it can be stated as a thing which cannot be seen very clear. Blurring the method of both for highlighting and hiding the certain photo elements. To avoid such problem, Sharpen tool is been used for making the part of the image appear more clearer.
3.) What do you mean by Smudge tool?
Ans :- In GIMP, Smudge tool is used for smudging the colors of an image. The color is been picked and gets mixed with the other color when we click and drag the mouse.
4.) What is a Dodge Tool?
Ans :-In GIMP, Dodge tool is used for lightening or darkening the colors of the image by using the current brush. The other name of the Dodge tool is Burn tool.

Ans :- The difference between the Flip tool and Rotate tool are as follows :-
a.) Flip tool :- Flipping of image means getting the mirrored image. IN GIMP, the Flip tool is been made used for flipping the image horizontally or vertically.
The steps for using the Flip tool in GIMP are :-
- Now open the image.
- Go to the tool box and select the tool as the Flip tool

b.) From the Flip Tool options, Select the Flip type of your choice as Vertical or Horizontal.

b.) Rotate tool :-Rotation means that it is the action or process of moving around the middle/centre point. c.) In the Toolbox area, you may find various options and may select any of it. The options are stated below :-
Type – We can select from the following options in this category.
- Dodge – This tool is used for lightening or softening any part of the image.
- Burn – This option helps to brighten the colors of the image.
Exposure – With the help of this tool it is much easier for defining the dodge/burn tool effects. The sliders default value is 50 and may change/differ from 0 to 100.
Range – This option is been divided into three modes which are
- Shadow – It limits the effects to the darkest pixels.
- Midtones – It restricts the effects to pixels of average tone.
- Highlights – This restricts the effects of the lightest pixels.

To avoid such problem, Sharpen tool is been used for making the part of the image appear more clearer by increasing the contrast wherever the brush is been applied on the image. By moving the brush over the area of an image, the blurring and sharpening can be done repeatedly. Following are the steps given for making use of the Blur and Sharpen tool are :-
a.) Open the image
b) From the Toolbox, select the Blur and Sharpen tool.

Convolve Type – This option includes basically two options which are as follows
- Blur – This option is most useful in blending the pixel with the next nearby pixels.
- Sharpen – With the help of this option, each pixel will appear/look different from the other nearby pixels.
- Rate – This is one slider which is used for setting the strength of the effect of Blur/Sharpen.

Ans :-Below are the steps which are used for using Paint Brush tool in GIMP :-

b.) From the Toolbox select the Paint Brush Tool.
c.) Select the foreground color of your choice.
d.) Here, we can adjust the following options :-
- Mode – This option contains sub-options or drop down list from which we can manipulate an image.
- Size – This option helps sue adjusting with the size of the brush.
- Brush – This option is used for adjusting the brush type and the shapes for painting.
- Opacity – With the help of this tool, we can adjust the brush strokes transparency.
- Apply Jitter – We can apply the spaces in between the brush strokes.
