Answer: Main features of Ashoka ‘s Dhamma-
- Everybody should follow non-violence, tolerance and spread peace .
- Everybody should respect and serve their parents , elders, teachers, Brahmins and monks.
- Love and care for all living beings should be spread.
- Avoid all negative activities like- arrogance, enmity, sacrifice of animals and spread only love and care , follow only the path of truth.
- He too taught us to pay respect for all religions and always be kind to the slaves, servants and workers.

Answer: For the welfare of his people Ashoka gave maximum facilities to his people. He always treated them as his children. He had opened hospitals for both man and animals, planted trees in the both sides of the road, established old-age homes and orphanage and appointed Dhamma Mahamatta to spread Dhamma among the people.

Answer: Social life during the Mauryan period – People used to live peaceful and harmonious lives .They used to follow their parental profession and trade and intercaste marriages were mostly not popular. Varna and Ashram system were present in the society.
Economic life- Agriculture was the main economical base of the village economy of that period and for that cultivators used to get proper financial help from the state. Developed irrigation system, animal rearing were too encouraged by the state. Trading was also promoted as an another source of income and cotton, wool , jute products etc were the main items for internal and foreign trade.
5.) How did the Kalinga War prove to be a turning point in the life of Ashoka?
Answer: Before Kalinga war king Ashoka had almost conquered all the states of India. But Kalinga was his last achievement. It was a very fierce battle, which had turned him deeply. The huge loss of lives and properties, cries of widows and children moved him. So after this battle he took a pledge not to restore any war . He took the path of Dhrama Vijaya after this.
