Conjunction for Class 1 – 5, 6 – 8 and 9, 10 Students

Conjunction in a sentence as a word used to join or connect two or more than two words, ideas or sentences.

Examples:-

1.) Shreya you usually eat outside because she likes street food.

Here, because is a conjunction because it joints two sentences.

2.) She stayed at her office due to heavy rain.

Here, due is a conjunction because it joints two sentences.

3.) The teachers got work so they let students to do their homework in the class.

Here, so is a being used as conjunction to join two sentences.

Types of conjunction

1.) Correlative conjunction

Correlative conjunctions in a sentence are a pair of words which connect two sentences or ideas.

Examples:-

1.) Students find both maths and history as hard subject.

Here, “both” “and” are used so it is a correlative conjunction.

2.) Neha is confused whether to choose pink or red dress.

Here, “whether” “or” are used so it is a correlative conjunction.

3.) She likes neither Apple nor mango.

Here, “neither” and “nor” are used so it is a correlative conjunction.

2.) Coordinating conjunctions

Coordinating conjunction in a sentence is a word used to connect words, independent clause which is of same or similar type.

Examples:-

1.) Nishi like junk food, but her sister prefers healthy food.

Here, “but” is used and two different foods are present so it is coordinating conjunction.

2.) Happy Raikoti and SonuKakkar are good singers.

Here, “and” is used and both singers are related so it is coordinating conjunction.

3.) She and brother are going to take admission in AIMK.

Here, “and” is used and both are related to each other.

3.) Subordinating conjunctions

A subordinating conjunction in a sentence is a word that joins or connects two unequal or dependent clause.

Examples:-

1.) I will join your team if you promise you will gift me Jersey.

Here, two unequal sentences are being connected.

2.) I will give my 100% if I get a chance in your team.

Here, two clause which need another clause are being joined.

3.) Call me when you got free from online classes.

Here, two dependent clauses are present.

Conclusion

Conjunctions are words which connects two words or sentences. They are of many types as we discussed above.
