The blueprint reveals that the question paper pattern will be focused on competency-based questions with 40% questions in the form of Multiple-Choice Questions, 20% as competency-based questions and the remaining 40% as subjective questions of the short/long answer type format.
The questions papers provide a base to the students to practice their skills and know how they need to prepare for the Board Exams. By practicing these papers, the students will be able to evaluate their existing understanding and knowledge of the topics and further improve themselves. As they are provided with a set of probable questions, the students are able to prepare accordingly. The more opportunities a student can avail to practice their subjects help them to become more and more confident and master in their chosen subjects.
The books can only provide the information on which the students are to be taught. The books also provide an elaborate concept regarding various topics. But the Additional Practice Questions provide a number of different ways in which an examiner can ask the students for that information. The teacher also gets a clear understanding of the students’ weak points and can find out various methods to help the students to achieve the required goal. This means that by solving more and more Additional Question Papers the students will learn how to interpret a certain question and provide the correct answer without having too many doubts. Moreover, the more the students will practice the questions, the easier it will become for them to understand what and why they are writing something. Thus, their critical thinking and competency skills are sharpened.
The Central Board Secondary Education by providing the Additional Practice Questions has ensured that the students are well versed with the format of the question paper and do not feel anxious about the board exams. As many students are new to the exam pattern, especially in 10th, they learn how to manage their time while answering questions and use the best techniques to write good and correct answers. Advantage of Additional Practice Question Papers:
The Additional Practice Questions will also help the students in self-assessing their preparation. They can compare their answers to the model answers provided in the marking scheme and check whether they are able to include all the necessary information in an efficient way in their answers. If not, they can further improve themselves very easily by referring to the answers provided. In subjects such as Mathematics, it becomes important that the students know whether they are able to understand a particular concept and answer correctly using the best method. Especially for the students appearing for the 10th boards, utilising the Additional Practice Questions becomes very crucial as they for the first time are going to face a different testing pattern. They need to understand how to approach questions as it will not be their own teachers who will be evaluating them but unknown checkers who would not be tempted to show any kind of mercy while checking their answers. So, it is best for them to understand how to write their answers so that they do not lose marks just because they did not know how to form their answers. Moreover, the checkers would be following the marking scheme provided by the Central Board of Secondary Education that will be similar to the marking scheme of the Additional Practice Questions. Thus, making it easier for the students to score better if they practice the Additional Practice Questions. Moreover, in subjects of humanities, like English and Social Science students always become very confused regarding how much data they should provide for certain number of marks. The Additional Practice Questions provide the students the model answers that help them to frame their own answers for the examinations.
It also boosts the confidence of the students as the more questions they are able to get right, they feel more ensured about their preparation. This in turn helps them focus better and not feel too anxious while preparing for the exams. Getting answers right, especially on the practice questions will help them understand where they stand in their preparation and know whether they will be able to perform well in the final exams.
As the sample papers are being provided to test the students’ grip over a subject, it is essential that they practice them to understand where they are lacking and where to make improvements. The teachers will also be able to evaluate their students better and help them achieve a better understanding of the subject or topic where they might need a little more attention. They are a very good and efficient way of ensuring good marks in the board exams with ease. Also, these questions are generally harder than the questions that are given in the actual exams and thus it will be a very good exercise for the students who will find it easier to attempt the paper during their exams.
The use of these practice questions can be beneficial for the teachers as well as they can use the questions as tool for clarifying how well the students have understood the topic before introducing a new topic. The teachers should thus extensively use the Additional Practice Questions provided by the Central Board of Secondary Education to ensure that their students are understanding the curriculum and will be able to perform in their finals without any hitches.
For students in 10th standard these Additional Practice Questions are of much significance as they will be giving a board exam for the first time in their life. The pattern of the exam is very different from what they have seen till 9th standard with huge changes in answer structures and approach. Also, as the checkers of their answers will not be their own teachers, it is important that they know how to structure their answers well, without any lags in their approach. This will ensure that the checker will not reduce their marks just because the answer is not clear in its approach. The marking scheme thus provides a very important base structure on which the students can build their writing styles to come up with the best ways to write good answers.
The importance for the Additional Practice Questions cannot be ignored for the students of 12th either as they will need to provide much more detailed yet well structured answers in their answer sheets. Even though they will be appearing in their second board examinations of their life, the subject matter will become much more topic oriented. They will need to be much more strategic and logical in providing their answers. This is where practicing the Additional Practice Questions will help. By practicing the questions, they will be better prepared and will know how to write answers with a logical approach and give structured answers that have all the necessary details. There will be an obvious difference between answers written by a student who has practiced the additional questions and a student who has not. It becomes clear who will be able to score better.
