C.) 1.) Long Answer Questions
1.) Write a few sentences about the elderly corn-merchant
The corn merchant suffered from great anxieties, he had a weak heart and in many complaints from life. He believed that his nephew was cheating him and his wife was busy on how to spend 10 pounds during a holiday. He often crypt about the fact that life was getting too fast for him and he could not cope up with it. In general he was not satisfied with his life.

These lines have been told by the corn merchant because he wanted to convey that like the aeroplane which travels 1000 miles an hours and this extremely fast-paced similarly humans have a fast-paced life as well. The advancement of technology has only supported this and man’s life has changed rapidly within a few years. the corn merchant is unable to cope up with this past lifestyle in tries to point out how he is uncomfortable with such a lifestyle
3.) What sort of excitement do we have today which our ancestors lakes? Is it an advantage or a disadvantage?
Definitely the fact that one can travel thousands of miles by just sitting on a plane and train within hours and days is not only convenient but also exciting However in older days but I ancestors did not have this privilege and had to travel in buses and cars that weren’t as equipped as today’s vehicles , cars were also less abundant in those days. As for our ancestors they had to travel in carriages and bullock carts and it would take days to reach from one place to another.
I think it is an advantage to have fast moving vehicles today because not only our time is saved, one can also cover a huge distance whenever required.
4.) Who are taken to be slow thinkers? How are the slow thinkers, handicapped today?
A slow thinker is 1 who processes information and knowledge slowly and thus does not possess what we call the presence of mind. it is expected that such people would not be able to answer a difficult question properly as compared to others they are less advanced in academics. Slow thinkers are considered to be handicapped because the world is fast-paced and does not stop for anyone. big leaps are being taken and people need to be intelligent as well as smart to cope with the future needs of mankind. One needs to act readily according to the situation these days. hence as far as modern living is concerned slow thinkers shal face real difficulties while handling life
5.) What enlightenment does the writer seek from his wife? What does it suggest about the plight of the modern man?
Since the writer is a slow thinker he is not able to understand the basic difference between the female artists of the film then seeks his wife’s assistance in identifying the difference between them. The wife points out how they differ in appearance and manners.
This suggests that with the advent of greater technology in a different lifestyle both men and women find it difficult to distinguish between what is right and what is wrong. people 10 to stray away from the purpose of life and often get involved into something notorious. This also highlights the fact that to be able to survive in this world one needs to be a fast thinker and be clever enough to readily solve difficult situations and handle them.

The essay pace for living throws light upon how life is different, especially now . The essay can be considered as a form of satire. Through the character of an ageing corn merchant the author conveys how life has become fast-paced for this generation. the author has equally weighed the advantage and disadvantage of living a life that is fast-paces

Dear ma,
I hope this letter finds you in good health. First, I would like you to shower me with your blessings. I’m regretful for the fact that I couldn’t write to you for a few days owing to a busy schedule. For a few days I have been working on a new project at my company and I am solely in charge of managing the entire project. As a result you can understand but there are many responsibilities that I have to carry out. not only that I’m having to work late hours for a few days and hardly do I get time to eat or do other chores. Every morning I just have milk for my breakfast because I’m unable to manage time in the morning and start for the office. I tried to squeeze in some time for my lunch and at the end of day at about 9:00 PM I returned home all tired. I wish you were here. I come home so tired that I don’t even feel like making dinner so most of the days I order food from outside. I hope this project gets over soon and I get some time for myself as well.
yours lovingly,
Sreeja
