Early life of Tim David
Timothy Hays David, also Tim David was born on 16 March 1996 in Singapore. His father, Rod David is a former Singapore International player who represented the country in the 1997 ICC World Cup qualifiers. His father later worked as an engineer because of which the family had to moved to Australia in the 1990s. Back then Tim was 2 years old. He grew up in Perth, in the wake of the 1997 Asian Financial crisis. Hence, he holds dual citizenship for both Singapore and Australia.

International –
Ahead of the Regional Finals of the 2018–19 ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers tournament, he had been involved in the training squad for the Singapore cricket team in July 2019. For the Regional Finals of the tournament, later the same month his name was selected for Singapore’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad. On 22 July 2019, he made his T20I debut against Qatar. In September 2019, For the 2019 Malaysia Cricket World Cup Challenge League A tournament, he was a part of Singapore’s squad. In the Cricket World Cup Challenge League A tournament held on 17 September 2019, he made his List A debut for Singapore, against Qatar. Playing in just 5 matches, he scored 369 runs and became the leading run-scorer in the tournament. For the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers tournament in the United Arab Emirates, he was added to Singapore’s squad in October 2019. He was named the player to watch in Singapore’s squad ahead of the tournament by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
League Career –
Big Bash League:
In the 2017-18 Big Bash League season, David made his T20 debut for Perth Scorchers on 1 January 2018. He was also signed by the Hobart Hurricanes for the 2020-21 Big Bash league season. David scored 58 runs in the opening fixture of the tournament and with Hobart beating the Sydney Sixers by 16 runs, David became the Player of the match.
Pakistan Super League
In May 2021, as a replacement for Joe Burns, David was signed by the Lahore Qalanders in the PSL Mini Replacement Draft for the remainder of the postponed 2021 Pakistan Super League. In 2022 he was signed by the Multan Sultans, known as the reigning champions for the 2022 Pakistan Super League.
England Domestic League
David took part in the Hoofdklasse tournament in the Netherlands in July 2021. After he played in the Dutch league, he wanted to play in Surrey’s final two matches in the 2021 T20 Blast in England for which he signed with Surrey County Cricket Club. A month later, he scored his first century in List A cricket with an unbeaten 140 against Warwickshire in the 2021 Royal London One-Day Cup. David scored 102 runs in the quarter-finals of the tournament and by 5 wickets Surrey had beat Gloucestershire to qualify for the semi-final of the competition.
For the inaugural season of The Hundred, he was drafted by Southern Brave in 2021. In the final match for the 2021 season of The Hundred, he scored 15 runs off 6 deliveries and then took a catch, it then followed by the crucial run-out of Liam Livingston. All these played an important role in leading to the victory of his team. For the 2022 T20 Blast in England, he was signed by Lancashire Country Cricket Club in February 2022. In August 2021, for the second phase of the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) in UAE, David was included in the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad. On 24 September, he made his IPL debut against Chennai Super Kings and became the first player from Singapore to play in the IPL. In the 2022 IPL auction, he was picked by the Mumbai Indians in February 2022.

In December 2021, during a Big Bash League match between Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne stars, Hurricanes’ Tim David made an attempt to remain on strike by taking a short run in the last over of the first innings. But as the attempt was caught on camera, the entire team was punished for Tim’s act. Even before the opponent team came in to bat, a total of 5 runs were added to their score.
