Answer the following questions.
1.) Why didn’t the mother recognise Gopi? How did he feel?
Answer:-Gopi’s mother (Amma) now a days doesn’t recognize anybody as her memory has got weak and didn’t see Gopi for long time. Gopifelt sadand helpless that his mother didn’t recognize him. He even tired to make his mother understand that it was her songopi.
2.) Why do you think Gopi didn’t get anything for his mother?
Answer:-Gopi didn’t get anything for his mother because he came for the meeting in Thiruvananthapuram and came with the intention of selling his share of the family property to raise some money for his family in Delhi.
3.) The mother could not remember Gopi. Do you think Gopi remembered his mother? What does it suggest?
Answer:-Gopi didn’t remembered his mother , not wrote any letters or ask about her that is why he came after a years to visit his mother that too with the self-reason,intention of selling his share of the family property to raise some money for his family in Delhi.
4.) What is meant by the expression ‘the tattered blanket’?
Answer:- the tattered blanket means old or torn blanket.
5.) Why didn’t Gopi answer his sister’s question, ‘Do you remember your Amma ?
Answer:-Gopi didn’t answer his sister’s question because he know he did not visited to mother more than 5 years, as a son he didn’t took responsibility of his mother and now when he came after so long time, he wanted raise some money by selling the share of the family property. Even he saw the irritation on his sister’s face when informed about selling his share property
6.) If you were Gopi’s sister, how would you respond to his behaviour ?
Answer:- I would make Gopi understand his responsibility as a son towards Amma. As a elder sister make him realize his mistakes he did till yet and way to correct it all and apologize to mother.

Delhi is too expensive. You know I have four children to look after now. I can’t make both ends meet with my salary. And one has to keep up one’s status. It will be a great help if I can raise some money by selling my share of the family property. I came to talk it over with you.
Now, write a short essay on how to keep up family ties despite economic pressures (You may use the hints given below).

Answer :-
Raising the family single hand is very difficult now a days. Economic stability is must in this era very everything has raised their price. Person who handles the house responsibilities have a huge economic pressures of day to day life expenditure. To meet the expectations of family, man starts working day night shifts, extra work, started migrating to other place in search of work and money and stays away from family. Person does not get enough time to spend with family due to which getting far from family. There is Lack of love and affection between family members. Difference between family members starts creating as they don’t spend enough time with each other and every one is busy in there own world. These differences creates unhealthy relationships that us absence of healthy human relationships. This situation is not good for family atmosphere, these differences can be avoided by having discussions within family members, sharing their thoughts, listening to each other, guiding and helping each other, spend time with loved ones.. by sharing communication, one can understand the issue and work accordingly.. money is important to survive but family is also important on other side. Keeping up family ties despite economic pressures would become easy.

1.) How does the poet feel the presence of his mother?
Answer:- The poet feels the presence of his mother when he use to play the playthings which reminds him how mother used to hum while rocking my cradle. In early Autumn morning the smell of the shiuli flowers & the scent of the morning service in the temple smelled as the scent of his mother. All these activities reminds or feel the presence of his mother
2.) What do you understand from the statement – ‘I cannot remember my mother’?
Answer:-the statement – ‘I cannot remember my mother’ means poet’s mother has passes away early when poet was at young age, do he could remember memories with his mother .
3.) Does the poem convey sadness? If yes, pick out the suggestive expressions.
Answer:- No, poem does not convey any kind of sadness. Infact this poem shows the unconditional love care and bond between the mother and child. Poet didn’t got his time with his mother as she passes too soon still he could feel the presence of his mother.

Mother is the one who brought us in this beautiful world and understanding our each gesture,word,action What we want and need. She is the first teacher to teach us good values. The one who listens to each and every problem and solves it. Mother is superwoman who handles household work and also pay attention to child’s need.

1.) How did Suresh and Ramesh spend their childhood?
Answer:-Suresh and Ramesh spend their childhood in Manikonda village, playing together in garden, eating fruits given by grandma and listening to fairy talesby grandpa. Played gilli-danda, hide and seek and kabaddi
2.) Why did Ramesh’s family move to the city?
Answer :- Ramesh’s family move to the city Hyderabad in search of job where Ramesh got a job in Microsoft company and his wife worked a system analyst at dellIn hyderabad
3.) What change did you observe in Ramesh?
Answer :- Before moving to hyderabad, Ramesh lived in Manikonda village where Ramesh spend his childhood. His childhood was around family members like grandparents, uncle , aunt, brothers and sisters. He enjoyed the festivals dessert deepavali with family. Ramesh enjoyed the joy of family. But after shifting to hyderabad Ramesh missed all these things as only he and his wife stay together. Ramesh and his wife go for work and does not get the family time to spend in their busy life.
4.) Do you think Ramesh is happy in the city? Why?
Answer:- No, I don’t think so Ramesh is not happy in the city because they both stay alone in the city without family members like grandparents uncle aunt. Ramesh miss the company and joy of his family
5.) What made Ramesh write to Suresh?
Answer :-
Suresh visited Hyderabad last week but Ramesh could not meet Suresh due to his busy life schedule and felt sorry for it. Ramesh wanted to recall the childhood memories with his friend Suresh, these reasons made Ramesh write letter to Suresh

Advantages of joint family
