1.) What do fights put us in?
Answer: Fights put us in a terrible plight. There is violence involved. There is feeling of hatred and jealousy in the people who fight against each other.
2.) Why does the poet use the expressions ‘proud to be a strong nation’ and ‘hang heads
in shame’ at the same time?
Answer:India is the country which has rich cultural and religional diversity. There are different religions, castes in India. It is the country where we see people of different religion come together. But at the same time, there are some people who hold narrow-mindedness and create riots. Those people are the ones who don’t like being united and in the country like India religional riots are common and this is why it becomes the subject of shame.
3.) Who are cheats ? Who are being cheated?
Answer: Cheats are those selfish people who have evil intention to break the unity of India. People who listen to their talks are being cheated on.
4.) What are the tasks to be finished according to the poet?
Answer: India is a developing country and the poet feels like that are many areas in which we are far behind. Economic, social and technological development is something we Indians should strive for. We should be united and work toward the betterment of our nation.
5.) What is the central idea of the poem ?
Answer: The central idea of the poem is to make every Indian aware that we are Indians firstly and we need to be untied. We should not fall prey to anyone and break the caste barriers. We should strive for the development of our country
