His performance in the film Masti earned him fame and two minor awards. Then co-starring with Tusshar Kapoor in the widely panned sex-comedy Kyaa Kool Hai Hum, he gave his first relatively successful lead role. The film became a moderate success at the Box office but was appreciated by audiences.

In 2008, he appeared in two movies and both performed poorly at the box office. In the film De Taali, he played a lead role and was praised for his performance. Then later in Chunky. But neither could perform commercially well.

The film became successful at the box office.
In 2012, he was again paired with his real wife Genelia D’Souza in Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya. The film despite being on a shoestring budget proved a commercial hit.
